With reference to posts 206, 218, 222:

Im finding the same behaviour when playing DVDs. Choppy playback, CPU being chewed up and no control. This is on both ripped ISOs and real discs.

Im using the Cyberlink decoder, the only one on my system as far as i know. Also have OSD set to Minimal.

Made a discovery though: In config, changing 'DVD Navigator' to 'Cyberlink DVD Navigator' solves the CPU and choppiness issues. I guess the choppiness is because of the CPU cycles being chewed up. It doesnt get control back though, either through keyboard or remote. I can navigate the menus with the mouse but once playing, only way to stop it is by ending the GBPVR process.

At one point (using DVD Navigator) it crashed and XP wanted to phone home, so ive zipped and attached the reports it wanted to send off, in case that might shed some light. Also attached are my *.logs, one set from having 'cyberlink DVD Navigator' set in config, and the other having 'DVD Navigator' set in config.

Hope they help...

At the moment you seem to be just saying "it doesnt, I'm going back to the old version", but not actually trying to work out what is causing your problem and resolving it.

I'm actually guessing its nothing to do with .NET 2.0, or everyone would probably have the problem.

I started having this exact same problem afer the net2.0 and new gbpvr upgrade. MVP performance seems to be a little temperamental.

Well I did a fresh install, without any codecs installed yet, and it still is giving me the same issues. I even tried backdating the drivers to the originals that came on the CD to see if maybe the new drivers were conflicting and same issue. Sub, am I able to get a copy of the prior release? That one seemed to work just fine for me Smile

Sub, in your Survival Guide, you recommend backing up the config.xml & gbpvr.mdb files before upgrading. In post #197, you indicate:
"You cant copy the gbpvr.mdb or config.xml from a different release. These files are not portable between releases (and never have been in the past)."
If these files can't be copied to a new release, what is the reason for backing them up?

Sub:

Since the My pictures no longer works and in fact does nasty things to the system besides, i've been playing with the Photo Library some. I have a few questions if you don't mind.

Is there a way to get it to stay in list mode as opposed to having to select list mode each time?

Are you planning to make the lists circular at some point? I hope!

I've noticed once I have used the remote to change to list mode, then go to the lists to select what i want to view, the program won't let me get back to the slideshow button to start to start the slideshow, or even to exit back to the main menu. Is this something I've done wrong or is there a little glitch yet?

Same here, but I didn't try the database conversion.

Intalled .NET 2.0 and rebooted.
I installed over the 96.12 version, no go.
I uninstalled everything, deleted all the files/folders, stopped services, etc. Installed 97.7, no go.
Uninstalled 97.7, deleted folders, installed 96.12 and it's working again.

Log files indicate dongle.bin sent, but nothing else. MVP screen on TV has been either hung at "loading application" or "connecting to servers". It's an MVP lockup too I believe, the power button on the remote will not turn off the MediaMVP, I need to disconnect the power button. Seems the LAN jack is dead on the MVP as well, no lights (connection or activity) when it's hung.

I'm running firmware H2 on the MVP, haven't tried anything outside of GBPVR.

Ran out of time to play, maybe more tonight if I have time.

I suspect it is so that if you do need to go back to the earlier rev you have a backup of your database and config.xml file that is compatible with the old rev since the new rev versions of these files will not work with the old rev.

It says something about a JIT debugger ....

k.
Going by the screenshot, this looks like a bug in PriorityRecording.exe to me. I dont know anything about this utility, so you're probably best to ask the question in the plugin and skin forum.

Which is preferable?
Just take a backup copy of gbpvr.mdb and config.xml incase anything goes wrong, then run the installer. GB-PVR will automatically upgrade your system including any settings you have.

I add a resolution to this problem to the survival guide yesterday: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=16130

The problem was caused by having the 'Use direct access to Hauppauge remote' setting enabled without the relevent Hauppauge DLLs being installed. The old version of .NET did not complain in this situation, the newer version cause this error instead.
