I'm not a developer, (this may even be the wrong place to ask this) and I'm fairly new to the whole PVR thing, but has anyone considered developing a plug in to be able to surf the net thru GB-PVR?

that would probably require a lot of work, unless theres a good open source browser out there, the only one i know is links which isnt very good. to much coding to worry about really, unless you could use internet explorer somehow. if not you would have to worry about handling javascript, frames, dhtml to much work to build a browser. but it would be cool, ill just settle for a decent email plugin.

With C# it is possible*, but with the XCard, PVR-350 and MediaPVP, these pieces will prevent this from working very well. If I am not mistaken the 350 and XCard can only display 256 colors at a time. (Do you remember Windows 3.1 with old video cards) and the MediaMVP will diffidently make it hard to navigate and display animation. I don’t think it will work very well into this program. You can always do it on the Server screen but the features that make GBPVR so great will dictate its use.

It's only the X-Card that can display only 256 colours, the 350 is fine... but if you are willing to use your graphics card's TV OUT for the menu (sound and TV/DVD etc. would still all be X-Card) then a 'plugin' I've written (if used with a Scart switcher) should enable this; it automatically enables and disables TV OUT when going in and out of TV and DVD and with a cheap Scart switcher this means that when you're in the menu (with the TV OUT in highest priority) the TV-OUT will be shown (with GB-PVR full screen this is exactly the same and what you would be output to the X-Card) and when you go to tele or DVD, the TV OUT would be disabled and the X-Card would take over and display on the tele!
