i've had this long time recurring problem where gb just suddenly stops recording audio. I have a hauppage 150 card. Switching the box off and on would always solve the problem, but it would come back after a day or two. The files on disc are present, but there is no audio tracks in the files. So I thought I'd reinstall the latest version (.97.7) over the top of itself. Oh boy, was that a mistake. Firstly the config tool crashed any time you wanted to run it. I figured that the config.xml file might be buggered so I removed that - which of course meant that it creates it anew - and then crashed. So I removed the whole gbpvr folder and tols the msi to repair, hoping that I could put my original config.xml file back into the folder after it was repaired. This led to the same crash problem, where the config would show, then it would crash and exit.
So I've had to set up my whole installation again, which isn't so bad I suppose. The main thing is now that in my recordings option, there's no entries. On my disk in the recordings folder I have dozens and dozens of folders full of recordings. Is there any way I can convince my new installation that it has these existing recordings? Can I just copy certain files from my old gbpvr folder back in somehow without causing oltold other dramas?

ok it turns out that I can just copy the "mdb" files. these are databases. I just threw away the new gbpvr database and moved the old one in and restarted the app and everything was there.

But now I have an even wierder issue. ALL the shows play back in what appears to be 9:16 view - not 16:9. I have a widescreen telly. So the shows take up a narrow vertical slice of the screen, leaving about 40% of the screen on either side of the picture black. TV plays back widescreen as normal, and the recordings were known to play back at the correct scale on the previous version of gb. What can I do?

No, eventually you will run into the "Favorite_Channel" problem.

At this point, your solution will involve reinstalling 97.7 over 96.12 with your old database.

Following might work, putb the old gbpvr.mdb back in(you already did I think), in config-plugins export your recordings. Put the new gbpvr.mdb in, then in config-plugins import your recordings. Let me know if it works
