if you're there sub - how about re-enabling the detection/logging of DVB-T channels that don't have a video PID?

The most I can offer is a firm maybe.

I was less keen on it in the past because of the lockup that would occur when viewing a channel without video with the Overlay/VMR7/VMR9 render. The VMR9 Custom/FSE renderers do not have this problem, and given every PVRX2 user is using these renderers, then it's not the problem it used to be.

I have downloaded the tools, but can't get to poke around untill the weekend.
I'm on the Mendip transmitter. I'll post any results and stream info that may be usefull to others trying this.

Did you get anywhere with this... I've got all the radio channels tuned in and working fine except for mux B stuff - still stutters. This is a major shame since I'm of a Radio 2 sort of age so I'm looking for someone on another transmitter to see if the mux B thing is just me or is it general.

What do they play on Radio 2 these days? I think I'm supposed to be of that age too. I did an early-forties rebellion type thing though so as a result of recently working with a bunch of late-teen early-twenty somethings, I spend most time listening to the Electronic stream on XRMRadio pretending I once went to Ibiza. :o

I'm using PVRX2 1.0.16... I don't know what they are playing on Radio 2 just now, cos I can't get it working properly... where's Ibiza???... I'm still a James Taylor/Pink Floyd/Stevie Winwood sort of chap... anyway...

First of all, make a copy of your gbpvr.db3

The the quickest way to do one (say Radio 1) for a test is...

Scan mux B - I use TSReader Lite and export to HTML for reference.

Edit gbpvr.db3
In the 'CHANNEL' table add a new record and put...

• "BBC Radio 1" in the 'name' field
  
• "700" in the 'channel_number' field
  
• "Y" in The 'favorite_channel' field
  
• commit the record by clicking on another record and make a note of the 'oid' value generated for the new record.

In the 'SOURCE_CHANNEL_MAPPING' table add a new record and complete the fields as follows...

• 'channel_oid' - the 'oid' value you just created in the 'CHANNEL' table
  
• 'capture_source_oid' - the 'oid' value of your DVB-T capture card from the 'CAPTURE_SOURCE' table
  
• 'source_channel_number' - "700"
  
• 'enabled' - "Y"
  
• 'tuning_request' - easiest way to do this is to copy and paste the 'tuning_request' data from BBC Four's entry, then modify it based on the output from your scan.

Close your editor, restart recording service, rightclick your systray icon and Update EPG (might be a few mins before you see any program data), and you should be up and running.

BTW If you have a problem with the 'tuning_request' stuff, do a scan on 530MHz and save and post the output and I'll make it up for you.

I don't know (somewhere in the Med I think). It isn't the place to go these days anyway - one of Greek Islands is the place to be (I think). I'm still an old school fan of people like Floyd and Stevie Winwood (and loads of others) but I've a very eclectic taste and at the moment I'm listening to stuff the young'uns like - I'll get bored of it eventually.

Anyway...

I took a slightly different root - I use XMLTV as a source for my EPG so I got my grabber to pull the listings from Bleb for Radio 2. I then did an update of EPG.

I then pasted this into all my BDA scan cache files...

Code:

T:C28,529834,0,0,8~NID:12293~ONID:9018~TSID:16384~P:18560~V:0~A:437~L:eng~PMT:702~LCN:702~N:>BBC Radio 2

...then went into Config and selected it for each DVB-T card.

I had to set my playback option to VMR9 Custom but other than that, it works a treat.

Ah! Interesting point. I rarely use GB-PVR (or PVRX2) at my PC but as it happens, that's how I was doing it when I tested it out.

I don't know what it would be like using my MVP. Anything 'live' that goes to an MVP needs to buffer and transcode. Maybe that's the problem.

You go upstairs and try it at your server and I'll go downstairs and try my MVP.

In the meantime I'll probably get something to eat and fall asleep so I probably won't report my findings until later.

I went upstairs and tried it on my gbpvr server... same results. So I tried setting Live Preview Mode on and that fixed it on the server, but MVP and client laptop (streaming mode) still stuttering.

OK - that explains something - I always have Live Preview enabled as I rarely watch TV on my PC so it's probably still at the default setting. I couldn't get it to work on my MVP as I use the old GBPVR MVP server instead of the PVRX2 one. I wanted the old FF/RW options and also use Net Radio on the MVP (which PVRX2 doesn't yet support).

The only difference I can see with radio stations on MUX B in comparison with MUX D is that all the MUX D ones use a bit rate of 128Kbps or less. Most on MUX B are 192Kbps (some 160Kbps and a couple less than that). Try BBC R5 Live - it uses 96Kbps and is on MUX B.

That's getting close... R5 Live is fine, so then I tried 6 Music (160Kbps) and that stutters, so then I tried BBC Asian Net (128Kbps) and that stutters too. Obviously the bit rate does have something to do with it, but I still suspect some other problem unique to mux B.
