Slimm,

I'm not sure what this version is doing... it seems to go further and just peter out and give up... it never shows a icon in the tray. and the cpu usage is zero so it must think it's done...

logs attached...

According to these logs, the tray utility doesn't know you have SQLite available. Do you have a SlimmGBPVR.exe.config file in your GBPVR folder? This should contain the DbProviderFactory information for SlimmGBPVR.

In any case, the next post contains a bug-fix bonanza that also changes the way the tray utility gets a handle on the database. Maybe it will work more reliably.

Regarding the crash on restart, I have found the following.
If my computer is set to auto-logon, I got the crash with the 'send error to Microsoft' box. If my computer was not set to auto-logon, I didn't get it!
Anyways, I did manage to magic up a fix for this. If you find the version in the next post still crashes on a restart, go to the All Programs->Startup folder, right-click Slimm GBPVR and select Properties. In the target box after the closing speechmark, add a space then the parameter /wait:10000. 10000 is the number of milliseconds Slimm GBPVR will wait before doing anything after it is loaded. It can be any number you want, but 10000 (10 seconds) happens to be the value I tried. I found this fixed the crash on restart with auto-logon enabled.

Here is a beta version of SlimmGBPVR. This also includes the command-line utility GBPVRcli.

Feedback appreciated, as always.

Note: this version is not compatible with GBPVR v0.96.12 or earlier.

Direct download link

Features:
  • New token: {FileLength}. Returns the length of a recording on disk in bytes. The help file does not include this token yet.
Bug fixes:
  • Logging level now implemented from program start (before it was only recognized if you clicked OK in the Tray Configuration window).
  • Recordings menu Item Text and Item Tip Text now actually have an effect.
  • FormatException's now caught for misspelled format items. The format item is returned with the errant token still in place and the accepted tokens changed to numbers.
  • Recordings menu Item Text had a default value that causes an error. If your Recordings menu Item Text contains the token {SmartDate}, please change it to {StartDate}.
  • ExitDuringUpdateEPG setting from the Tray Configuration didn't work when Tray Utility is first run, only when the user clicks OK in the Tray Configuration window.
  • Options menu now renamed to Tools menu.
  • When you select a pending recording to cancel it, the confirmation dialog has been made rather more understandable. Previously there was a big button saying 'cancel recording' and a little button saying 'cancel' meaning cancel the dialog. Not very helpful. Now it should be rather more friendly.
  • Recordings menu (all menus, now in fact) should open to the left of the parent menu. I have a dual view monitor setup and the recordings menu would open on my second screen (which isn't always on!). Hopefully, this particularly grievance of mine will be gone forever.
Coding:
  • Alternative method of getting hold of DbProviderFactory.

Slimm this one does the trick for me! Even without the startup delay! Thanks... I appreciate your dedication and tenacity! Big Grin

BTW... I do use auto-login.

Hi,
Seems like I've got database reading error (screenshot attached) on the newest beta version. The base is SQLite.

Easily solved. This one is entirely my fault. All the bits where it says {SmartDate}, change to {StartDate}.

Do this using the Tools->Tray Configuration menu, the Menus tab, and then the recording item text.

Thx

Still have no idea why auto-logon would make a difference, anyways, fixed now, that's great.

Just as a general note, Slimm GBPVR has a startup delay option which you might want to use to stress your computer less during startup.

Simply add a space then "/wait:10000" to the target box in the properties of the Slimm GBPVR shortcut in the All Programs/Startup menu. The 10000 is the number of milliseconds SlimmGBPVR will wait before doing anything, so 10000=10 seconds. It can be any number.

Slimm I guess there is no option to have the recordings menu only list the .mpg file? Might be a nice option to include! Wink I have all of the comskip files being shown on the menu which are of little use to me...

hey... what can I say?! Now that I have it working, I need to ask enhancements! Big Grin

Option will be included in next release. You will be able to specify extensions that will be shown on the recordings menu. The default setting will be ".mpg .dvr-ms". Are there any other file extensions that GBPVR records to?
