hi, i know, this skin-topic is nice to have, but not quite as important as other plugins or issues....

i am trying to add another skin to this software and now i'm facing a few problems:

my photoshop png-buttons don't display correctly. gbpvr stretches them, even if they have the same width/height as the default pictures. i don't know, why.

in the skin.xml-file in "main menu" i found, that i can set a default button-background for the menu-items. this is only used for plugins and the dvd-button. the other menu-items need a button-png. is it possible to let gbpvr display every button (in the main menu) dynamically? or must i draw every button and hope to fit the xml-settings to my drawings?

when i get along with those problems, i am sure, that i can post a new skin next week if anyone is interested :-) -> if you want, i can post a little screenshot.....

I have the same problems with the png buttons I made in paint shop pro 8, the solution was to open the original button in Paint then copy-paste the new button overthere and save it. It looks like the original buttons doesn't have the dimension info in cm, but only as pixels. Psp8 saves the dimensions both as pixels and cm... That said, I only tried it in v18, and it looks like the buttons are handled a bit diffirently in v19 (haven't played with it much).

You had me confused for a minute. I didn't initially notice this question was over a month old (and related to the last release).

The new release v0.19 show make it much easier to generate skins and buttons. Very few images are required for a skin now.

As nkh says, this "button-stretching" is caused by the fact that Photoshop/Paintshop etc include pixel-size information in the png headers, which messes up the size of the buttons.

Now that most of the buttons are generated on the fly, this isn't really an issue any more but if you want to edit the buttons used in the weather and diskspace plugins, a good free program is TweakPNG which lets you easily edit the headers on your png images and thus delete the pixel size info.
