turns out the latest Avivo codecs can handle recompression of HD mpeg streams! Smile not a real HD user myself but haven't seen many HD quality encoders out there and the speed of Avivo is definitely needed for HD content..

the regular interface shows the mpeg2 HD option and i made a command-line prog. for the directshow filters that enable you to set the parameters yourself without constraints..Smile [do search or PM me]

just wasn't sure if the HD users out there knew of that..and available ONLY with the new avivo updates...[update your atidvcr.dll and atixcode.dll from newer ati drivers...codec now available as seperate download from ATI]

anyone with hd content, let me know how it goes...
[i don't have hd card]

really it's just an option in the mux,as hd content is actually just mpeg2 compressed...so you could use any directshow accessible encoder..
a free one comes with the mvp software also..[mainconcepts i believe]
the mux that comes with Avivo is really where it shines...can output anything from psp to ipod and avi and mp4 and .264 and HD too! Smile
not aware of ANY other methods that can do so many formats..
it's x.264 is lightning fast compared to any others i've seen..
turn off pre-processing, add the ati-scaler filter if you need scaling [upsample to HD if you want!] and i use the nero video processor filter and the ati noise filter as they seem to smooth out the video nicely with almost no speed decrease at all Smile

i was wrong too about seeing it in the regular interface...tho it may show up if the input file is also HD...
