A friend of mine is the developer of this cool product: it's a light system (LED based) that can produce any RGB combination.
It connects to a USB and runs a tiny app that controls it.
The lights are then aimed to a back wall (behind or around the display).
In addition for the user to be able to control the light color, or atmosphere, the app can control them for you based on the image being displayed!
So it can "react" to the movie, TV or game, and "enhance" the image displayed to the wall around the TV/Monitor.
I have one system running at home. Although it does require some tweaking here and there (he's working on a more accurate color control, I guess whoever buys it will get free updates), but overall, you can get to a very cool effect:
Take a look at this link for prices and some more pictures (scroll down to the bottom):

There are several options available to purchase (a much cheaper DIY version, were there's some self-assembly involved).
I guess if there is interest within this community, we can arrange a group discount.
I have already got this guy interested in writing a GBPVR plugin to control this app (it comes with its own API, so you can do whatever you like with it), so one does not need to leave GBPVR to control it (bring it on, off, or control its main features).
Please tell me what you think of it.
