poor performance

I am brand new to gb-pvr, and only want to use it with mvp (i have a wired rev. 1)
So i installed 1.0.16 (on winXP SP2) the result was the MVP got the dongle (i could read it in the gbpvr log and the 4th bar on the screen finished) but the mvp did not start (fell back to bar 3 and no further entries in log)
I than took the dongle2xa.zip you recommend here and SUB recommends in 1.0.16 survival guide and mvp started.
But i have absolutely poor performance (every keystroke even in the menu takes nearly a second, video stops every 2 seconds for 0.5 seconds)
The XP machine is running on nearly 0% CPU (CoreDuo)

Can you maybe recomend an older dongle, that is known to work ok with gbpvr, or do you think the prob is more on gbpvr ?

The description of your problems (loading dongle, poor menu performance, video stopping/starting) actually sound like you're having network problems rather than a bug with the dongle or gbpvr.

Are you running on a wireless network?

It is a wired network. Sorry to say that it is an unmanaged switch (GBit) so i can hardly do any serious diagnostics on the switch.
Other Systems on the swicht just did a 600MB transfer in 90sec...which is poor for GBit (i calculated 58 Mbit/sec), but should still be ok and could be due to a slow disk.
A 171 time ping to the MVP endet with avg. <1ms.
I used the MVP before with a LINUX PVR as streamingserver which worked quite ok.
The loading of the original dongle (that comes with 1.0.16) finished well but MVP did not start.

Maybe i should try orignial Hauppauge SW to be as sure as possible that there is no network prob ?

The MVP networking is a bit finicky, so it possibly doesnt like something about your setup.

Yeah, I'd give the original Hauppauge SW a go.

Yep, got the orginal hauppague working (took me 20 minutes to figure out that i had to disable my normal dhcp service)

This seems to be working proparly - video ok, keys of ir accpetable (this has never been to fast, i remeber)
So network should be ok.

Any other ideas how to analyse the prob ?

Should i try the 1.08 of gbpvr ?

Sorry, I dont know. It definitely sounds like the network to me based on your original post.

If you have to turn off the dhcp server, than your network doesn't sound ok at all.

Note There is a tiny problem with gbpvr/mvpmc if you hit a remote key within about 5 seconds of the main screen being shown for the first time. For some reason this causes some of the problems you are discussing.

Due to your opinion i put the whole thing on a different network and it seems to work much better (original dongle 1.016 works...)

Ok, good to hear you got working.

I'm not really a networking guy, so I dont have a lot of suggestions about what it didnt like about your other network.
