How to develop a Foobar plugin ?

Hello,

i am new here and very happy with the use of GBPVR but i am disapointed i cannot use foobar as the default music player. That's why i want to develop the plugin to integrate foobar. I can use VB or Java but i need advices to start:

- witch development tool i need ?
- What a proper design/direction to do:
- bypass the defaulf media player to be replaced by Foobar in backgroung task ?
- a simple OSD fully integrated with all skins

Most people here are using Visual Studio 2005 for doing development. GB-PVR plugins are .NET 2.0 DLLs that have a class that implements the IMenuTask interface (reference GBPVRPublic.dll). Most people write the plugins using C#, but you can write them using any language that produces .NET 2.0 DLLs.

You wouldnt be able to change the music player used by other plugins, but you can certainly create your own foobar plugin screen which uses your preferred player.

There are plenty of plugins on the wiki that have source code which would provide a good starting point, and if you have any questions post them - there are a few people that can help you out.
