DirecTV and my PVR

Hey everyone. I just put together my fist ever PVR and I am/was very excited to get started using it. I'm at a summer internship and the house I'm living in only has Satellite TV (DirecTV). When I go back to school in a month I will be using good old comcast cable and do not expect any problems.

While I'm here though I wanted to get to testing my PVR but after doing some quick research it seems that with a DirecTV service this will be more difficult than I thought. I am currently about 100 feet from the set top box that translates the satellite signal into usable cable signal. What are my options to get things working? Moving my PVR is not an option at the moment. Like I said, i'm pretty new and this is my first PVR build so bear with me if I do not know everything at the moment.

I'm currently using XP Pro, Hauppauge 500MCE, and have an MCE2005 remote.

Maybe a wireless audio/video transmitter with remote extender? These are pretty common and cheap, but can have problems with cordless phones.
