The recordings are actually recorded at 352X480, rather than 720X480!! Video is squashed horizontally when viewed in WMP 10. Weird thing is - this only occurs when I record via the web interface - recordings are just fine (i.e. 720X480) when kicked off from the PC it is running on!!!![Image: confused.gif]

Deleted the web folder and reinstalled - same issue - ONLY occurs via the web admin interface - recorded locally is fine!!!

What happens if you select another recording quality in your ewa-config?

Good idea - I'll try that now and report - I have been using low quality.

OK, tried at medium and it recorded fine! I'm going to try at low again to make sure.

The default resolutiuon for the Low qual option is 352x480 - just go into the capture sources in config and edit the Low Quality profile to be 720x480 (although, you may want to bump the bit rate up a little to compensate)

Thanks

Thanx for the info - but, why in the world would you specify a horizontally squashed resolution for low quality? Shouldn't just the bitrate change?

My theory is that the numbers are turned around, 352x480 instead of 480 x 352

Edit: in wintv2000 the numbers are right e.g svcd = 576x352.

This is a fairly standard resolution, and does not indicate the picture is tall and skinny or anything like that. Its still intended to be shown as a 4:3 picture, but has dropped some of the horizontal detail. If its not been shown in the correct aspect ratio then something is probably wrong with the video decoder you're using.

With MPEG video, the video resolution is independent of the aspect ratio.

Aaaahhh, of course, knew that. The DAR (display aspect ratio) is still being set as 4:3. You can check that with Gspot (among others). It works ok on my system. A 352x576 mpg showed perfectly as 4:3.
Sorry for the misinfo.
