jch Wrote:One question though... when I delete a recording, it only deletes the .mpg file, but not the corresponding comskip-generated files:
- progname.mpg (this one does get deleted)
- progname.log (but these three don't)
- progname.logo.txt
- progname.txt

Any thoughts about adding this functionality?
.../j

Great suggestion. I don't use comskip myself otherwise I imagine it would already be there. I have added it to my To Do list. Thanks.

When I right-click on the taskbar icon and choose Tools | Tuner Status, I get a Microsoft .NET Framework Unhandled Exception. Note that I did not install GBPVR in the default locations (D:\XP Program Files\gbpvr\):

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
Any ideas??

Thanks!

The most frequent cause of this is that the recording service has crashed. Restart SlimmGB-PVR using the shortcut placed in the All Programs\Startup menu, restart the recording service and try again.

However, it is my bad for not putting solid enough error handling in this area of the utility. Sorry.

Bingo! Thanks!

A side-effect of the RecordingService silently crashing is that none of my shows would have recorded. I'm not sure how else I would have known that it had stopped.

Have you considered adding a "RecordingService Running/Failed Status" to the Rollover info? (An auto-restart for it would be even sweeter!).

Thanks,

Yes, I've just resumed development on this project and my development version has error handling on the Tuner Status option. The service auto-restart is definitely on my todo list.

Woohoo! That's great news.

Probably the biggest hole in the current "stock GB-PVR setup" is that you can't confirm whether the scheduled recordings will in fact get recorded.

Cheers,

Note: this version is not compatible with GBPVR v0.96.12 or earlier. There is a legacy link in the first post on this topic.

Version 1.2.2392.33124 BETA Direct download link

As always, this is a beta, comments, suggestions and bugs report are welcomed.

Please note, the download location has changed. The link in this and the first post will deliver the current version but links in all other posts now point to an outdated version (that I currently can't update thanks to something or other).

Features:
  • Deletes comskip files when deleting recording. The comskip files are called X.txt, X.logo.txt, X.log. Suggested on forum.
  • Stops session ending if GB-PVR is recording (does not currently work with Standby mode but will stop Restart, Shutdown and Log Off attempts).
  • Monitors GB-PVR recording service and automatically restarts it if it stops.
  • Value of TrayRefreshInterval from GB-PVR's config.xml used. This determines how often the Tray Utility checks to see if GB-PVR is recording anything.
  • Right-clicking a recording in the Recordings menu now displays a Properties and Actions dialog that allows you to play or delete the recording.
  • The dialog that comes up after you have finished watching a recording now displays the {TitleSubTitle} if known instead of the physical file name.
  • Tray now lights up when Live TV is active.
  • Now consistently uses the GBPVR provided Logger class which means only one log should be hanging around now.
  • {Description} token now is automatically broken into multiple lines and always appears on a new line.
Bug fixes:
  • Should no longer get a "channel already registered" error.
  • Icon menu now uses SystemColors.Menu and SystemColors.MenuText and should now be visible when using customised Windows themes such as Windowblinds.
Coding:
  • Tray Utility no longer accesses the GB-PVR database directly.

Hi,

Been trying to get this working, re-installed several times, but always have the same problem. Shortly (less than a second) after staring app, Get the "SlimmGBPVR has encounter an error and needs to close." dialog. Using the latest SlimmGBPVR + Latest GBPVR. Attached is log file, went through this but did not find anything meaningful. Read through thread, but does not look like anyone else is having a similar problem with current versions.

Thanks...Aurora

PS This looks like a great app and the documentation is great.
