Hi,

A feature I would like to see in a plug-in for GB-PVR is email notification. There have been a few times where I have missed a recording because I didn't realize that there was a conflict or I was running out of room on my hard drive. If I received a status email when there are conflicts, and when my hard drive had, say, 10% free space, that would be very useful. I have checked the forums and wiki, and I have not seen a plug-in that does this yet. Unfortunately, I don't have the skills to write this program. I only do C Programming (and pretty basic at that). Is there someone out there who would be willing to write this plug-in?

Sounds interesting.
I guess you can go different ways here.
One quick (and somewhat dirty?) way, and will require only some C knowledge (hint hint - will you do it yourself?) will be to periodically connect to the DB, and query the "recording_schedule" table. It has a "status" field, and I bet one of the values will say "confilct" (Sub - ?).
So, this little app. will check this field, and "Act" upon problems.
"Acting" can be triggering an external app. I've seen several small EXE utilities that can be used to email from command line (e.g. "mailto.exe").
Same app can check disk space or other issues.

What i'm saying basically is that for this solution you don't (necessarily) need a real GB plugin.

and I'm sure with AutoIt3 (which I've recommended here a while ago) you can wrap all these things nicely in one EXE file.

May I recommend a vbscript that will delete stuff automatically when your drive runs out of room. If you're interested check out this thread:

Thanks, Erik. disklimit sounds like just what I want. I will try it out soon.

Also thanks to madcat for your tips on writing a little app that will look for conflicts in the database. If I have some free time I will try to take a crack at writing that.

The next version of SlimmGBPVR features conflict management and lets you know there is a conflict by turning the recording icon red. As I say, this is the next version and hasn't been uploaded just yet as I am still tweaking it.

I also have the disk space idea on my to-do list and I suspect an e-mail notification wouldn't be too difficult either.

Also, my command-line utility GBPVRcli provides a list of conflicting recordings which can be formatted in any way you please.

The two utilities are part of the same package so you only need to download from one forum thread. The two different threads are for the specific support forum for each utility.
