Cool VPN software
Hamachi gives you LAN over the Internet.
Virtually any application that works over local/home networks can also be used over Hamachi networks.

too bad they have comtrol...they use a centralized server for discovery,so they know your connect details and security settings...plus you're reliant on their servers being up..[unless they let you host your own 'connect' server.]

If you setup your client properly, you can provide P2P type access w/o their servers being in the middle of the conversation, acting like a bridge. Matter of fact they would rather you now and try to turn uPNP on for your firewalls if they do not support NAT-T. I prefer setting up my own 'magic number', as they call it, and port forward to my box.

Thanks DrDDT - I've seen some other articles recommending SSH / putty, so I might have to put some time asside to have a play....

Or you could use a freeBSD based m0n0wall firewall (FREE!) and host your own IPsec VPN...

Seen before - looks cool but I've discussed this before here and I'm about to start using the built in Windows version... saves messing around and only needs one extra card.
