That was always going to be the case though. You can pretty much assume that if you're taking any content dynamically of a web site, that the content owner would not be happy if they knew. Same thing goes for downloading weather reports, weather radar images, tv show images etc. They may not see it as enough of a problem to do anything about though...

I just finished the proof of concept version of the CNN Video plugin. Special thanks to McBainUK for his UIElements library and example plugin.

I would appreciate it if a few people tried it out and reported what they do/don't like and what does/doesn't work. (.net 2.0 and windows media player are required)

To Sub/developers: Is there a way to disable the screensaver temporarily via the plugin's code? I find that coming out of the screensaver resets the plugin to its original state.

To skinners: There's no point in skinning this because the final release will be very different.

Look at the IPluginHelper.DisableScreenSaver() and .EnableScreenSaver() methods

On the PC,
pressing the stop button causes an "access violation error", hitting the exit button is OK. hitting ESC doesn't do anything, should exit.

pause button will pause, but hitting it a second time doesn't start playing again, you have to press play button. using CTR-P pauses fine, just the State message still say playing.

On the MVP,
not sure if you even planned to this, anyway,

when selecting a news story, get an ActiveX control message, something to do with "current thread is not in a single-thread apartment"

If you want me to test the "pipeline" stuff, i'd be willing , nod nod, wink wink!!

That's interesting. What version of Windows media Player are you running?

I'll fix all of this today. Eventually you aren't going to see those controls anyways.

Sorry, the MVP is not capable of displaying windows forms. Untill I figure out how to take the .asf stream, transcode it to MPEG and send it to the MVP, that isn't going to happen.

For the MVP, i guess something along the lines of the UBUstream plugin, but i'm no progammer, so cant help. I think VLC can play and stream most stuff.

If you take the cnn story about the equador volacano, you can play it using your plug in or you can play it in VLC by selecting the stream

WMP 11 is a beta so it might be a bug that's causing the error. Untill I get a chance to download it and test it out I'll just remove the stop button.

I've added MVP support to my list of things to do after the initial release.
