The beta version is now available for testing.

Changes that have been made in this version:
-scraping is now "on demand" so there is no need for an update button
-there are individual lists for each topic
-pressing "p" pauses/plays the video and "ESC" closes the video window

Things that will be changed for the initial release:
-the video window will look "GBPVRish" and will be fully skinable

Things that may be in the initial release:
-video length and posting date of each video will be added to the scraping code
-more up/more down buttons will be added to the various lists

Things that are on my "to do" list:
-BBC support
-a settings menu to choose which sections you want displayed
-the saving of title/URL data to an xml file for people with slow internet connections
-MVP support (I'll prolly have to get an MVP for this Smile )

Please report all errors, quirks and dislikes so I can fix them for the initial release.

Edit: Remote control support now added.

just done a quick test. CRT-P pauses fine , ESC exits fine.

definitely think they should be in date/time order, would be very handy.

not sure how you decide the number of stories to display but seem OK to me.

Getiing it to work on an MVP might be too big a job, you might need to get some help on how you might do that, before undertaking it.

I personally only use MVP, but i'd also like to be able to stream internet TV to it as well.

To get it to work on an MVP, you need to get the video on disk as a MPEG1/2, so the difficult part will be finding some way of converting on-the-fly to MPEG format.

Great work HTPCGB - should be great once it fits the GBPVR GUI

One bug/feature I noticed is that after quiting a video if you hit left to get back to the left hand menu it relaunches the stream

Also, the stream had to rebuffer a couple of times during playback (doesn't do this when viewing the streams through the CNN website) and it missed off the first couple of seconds of the feed

Keep up the good work!

I'm quite sure that they already are. There is nothing in my code that would reorganize the results from the CNN website (which is already in date/time order). Could you please double check this behaviour?

I scrape the first page (15 items) of each section. Sometimes there aren't fifteen items to scrape (e.g sports section).

This is now fixed.

What windows media player version are you running and about how fast is your internet connection? (I'm going to look into manually setting the buffer size.)

In this update I have added more up/more down indicators.

Open up windows media player, go to settings, then click on performance. Change the buffer size to something like 60. This should work untill I find a way to change the buffer size programatically.

OK, what i meant was when you scrolled down , unless you memorized the first item, you didn't know where you were datewise, however, your new arrows have solved that.

looks good so far, well done !!

Glad that that's working well for you now. For the next week and a half I'm not going to be able to work on the plugin. Do you guys think that it's polished enough (with the exception of the video window) to be released?
