Burn large TV programs to DVD

Hi -

I have some TV programs recorded that are at least 15G by size. My harddrive is filling up quickly and I am not sure how I can burn them to a DVD. I tried to use Nero and Sonic, but they both indicated that they could not store all the data. My questions are:

1) What software can be smart enough to store one large mpeg file to multiple DVDs?

2) What software can compress a large file to small enough file for a double-layer DVD?

Just curious as to how long these 15 gb recordings are? I would imagine they would have to be atleast 8 hours on high quality? I record movies on high quality which is like 6mpbs video...and those are like 5 gb...

I assume your large files are all MPEG? You could use a native frame-accurate editor to hack them in pieces (VideoReDo, Womble MPEG-VCR). The pieces will still be playable MPEG files, since those programs re-encode the edit points.

I actually paid for VideoReDo and find it a very useful tool in removing commercials and dealing with large files. Caveat: I've only dealt with files that would already fit on a DL DVD blank, but I had to make them fit on DVD-Rs.

I will have to double check but I think they are about 6-8 hours.

Those are DVR-MS files, but I have a software to convert them to mpg first, so that allows me to play in any DVD players.

I think if you would use the cyberlink-mux you would be recording mpg-files, this would save you the dvr-ms > mpg convert. If Iam mistaken, please let someone correct me.

I tried out VideoReDo - it's VERY nice. I can skip commercials and cut out the parts I don't want easily. Another good thing is its fast speed. A two hour long mpeg file can be produced in 15 minutes or so. I can also directly save dvr-ms files to mpeg.
