Giga(ntic) logfile

This morning I found my GBPVR stuck with an enormous gbpvr.exe-native.log of well over 4 gigabytes. The other logfiles were filled with messages about a full disk, so I could not find a cause for this. My acute problem is solved so I do not need help for that. I would like to avoid this haoppening again in the future.
Two questions:
1) Any suggestions of what might be wrong?
2) Would it not be wise to set an upper limit to the size of logfiles?

What does it contain? I'm sure its the same thing over and over again. If you can let me know what that says, I'm sure we can resolve the problem.

Most of the log files roll over to the next file at 1MB (exact size configurable), but this specific file does not normally get very large, so it doesnt have the same logic.

It was 4.1 gigabyte, and my disk was completely full, so I did not bother to look and scroll through it. My question to the forum was just to find out if anybody had encountered it before, or if anyone would know what might have happened. Next time I will see if I can move it to an other disk.

Indeed the previous versions of this log were small (in the order of 2-8 Kb if I remember well.)
In the meantime you might consider adding the logic to that file as well.
My setting was/is <LoggingMaxSize>1000000</LoggingMaxSize>

It happened again. I had MusicLibrary2 running for more than 2 hours on the MVP. I then switched MVP to live TV. Nothing happened.
Here is the contents of GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native.log, which grew in a few minutes to a size of 50+ Megabyte. The last lines of the error messages repeat until the end of the file.

In my first post I mentioned file gbpvr.exe-native.log growinf very big. I am pretty sure that was the correct name, because I always copy and paste filenames from the directory listing. (But one can always make a mistake..)
At this moment I am using dongle32_24110.bin

Any clue now?

Yes the PVR 350 is the only one apart from the dongles which may change from day to day.
The rest of the specification in my signature is uptodate and complete(I think)

What I probably should mention in addition that I use the same PVR to define 2 capture sources. One is the cable connection through the coax. The other (installed a month ago) is a SCART cable connection from my VCR to one of the other connectors on PVR350

I dont really know. Have you tried rebooting since this first started happening? It sounds like calls to your drivers are failing for some bizarre reason.

The device isnt in use by some other software on your machine?

1) I did reboot the machine in between those problems.
2) GBPVR is the only software on the machine apart from obvious stuff like IIS, IE, Firefox, virusscanners.

Apart from that I have a still unresolved problem with a SATA disk not being recognised during boot once in a while. However I never noticed that this disk was unavailable once the machine had started properly.

Well I will see if it happens again an try to relate it to other events.
