tv402u; new driver or malware?

softpedia lists this as version 2.3.0.3 of the driver for the convertx tv402u. Clearly these aren't released by plextor, their last version was 2.0.2.2. So don't use it. My googling didn't turn up anything useful. AVG shows it's clean (of viruses anyway)

But if you've already tried it, let me know. I know there probably aren't many convertx users here, but it's worth a shot.

I'm going to install it next weekend after I get a current ghost image taken, and have time to use it if necessary.

FYI, I found version 2.3.0.3c (and 2.3.0.5c) on the plextor europe site New drivers

Dated under a press release for may 2nd 2006.

I've had problems that I believe to be driver related, and it'd be nice if they finally fixed them.

I'm putting this here so other googlers can find the information. My divx.com thread got wiped out because they couldn't decide where to put the support forum. I have emailed techsupport@plextor.com to ask whether the drivers on the euro site can be used with U.S. tv402u's. I'll post any response I recieve here as well.

Quick, if not very helpful reply from plextor:

Sometimes there a driver updates that just effect the Europe divison but if they will help our United states releases then we will get it on our
website
