What's the best way to uninstall the Plain Jane skin?

I have gotten mine into a state that I can seem to get it out of and reinstalling over top of it did not help.

I am hoping that uninstalling and reinstalling will fix it.

Appreciate any help you can give.

What's gone wrong?

The best way I can think of removing Plain Jane would be:
  • Select the Blue skin from the config program
  • Delete the Plain Jane directory
  • Plain Jane installs some Plugins. If you think they may be part of your problem, then you should move all of the files out of the plugins directory into a safe place. Later on you can put them back, possibly one at a time.
  • Start GBPVR.exe.

I was using Plain Jane with a custom main background and a different custom "background".

When I upgraded to 98.8 my daughter noticed that some of the Xrecord posters were not being displayed. It turns out that they are being displayed, it is just that they are off the screen. Only Xrecord has this issue, other plugins seem to be unaffected. I also noticed that on Xrecord the background appears to be strecthed whereas on other plugins it appears normally.

I thought it was the background picture so I tried to change it and no matter what I change it too, it does not stick (other changes can be made without issue). It appears to save fine since other changes are reflected in the configuration, but the background does not change.

I tried reinstalling plain Jane on top of the old Plain Jane and it did not seem to affect it.

So for the time being I have switched back to blue and all seems to be fine. If you want to help me troubleshoot/fix it let me know (it may be useful for future users). Otherwise I will delete and reinstall.

Thanks.

This sounds like a skinning problem (my problem), however it seems that the upgrade to 98.8 might have some significance. Do you think that the GBPVR version is pertinent to the problem?

I will take a look at the XRecord skin.

djhorv,

My GBPVR computer recently crashed and I just got it back up yesterday. I only have three recordings so I need to wait a few days before I can really do anything to XRecord.

In spite of the above, I have begun looking into the issue. Entering XRecord from the main menu, it seems that my skin displays two rows of four poster images. Does your screen layout appear different, like more images per row, or more rows?

BTW, if it wouldn't be too much trouble, a screen shot of the problem would be nice.

Thanks,
Old Dog

From what I remember this is the only way Xrecord works properly, you must have 2 rows of 4 images, anything else and it seems to go nuts

Old Dog,

I am not necessarily convinced that it was an upgrade issue, it is when my daughter notice the missing posters was all. The thing that really confuses me is why I can't change it.

In any case, I took some ditigal photos, not the best quality, but hopefully it gets the point across.

Here is Xrecord in the blue skin.

Here is xrecord in Plain Jane

Here is video library in Plain Jane

Do these help?

Let me know.

Thanks.

Yes these help a lot. From your pictures, it looks like the screen image is stretched horizontally.

Try this:
  • Rename the file "GBPVR\skin\PlainJane\XRecord\skin.xml" to
    "GBPVR\skin\PlainJane\XRecord\skin.xml.old"
  • Replace the skin.xml file with contents of the attached zip file.

Tried that, did not seem to work.

As an FYI here is my old skin.xml file.

I compared your old skin.xml with the Plain Jane version. They are identical. This will be challenging.

What are the pixel dimensions of your custom background image? If it is not 720x480, resize it if you can, or post it and I will resize it for you.

Are you saying that you can't remove and replace the custom background?
