Alright, I'll try moving it back to the original slot and see if that corrects the problem. I'm so close on making this work. Would access to my machine yield anything?

Well its only on the one channel, and if i induce a hiccup, by turning volume up and down causeing volume osd to appear, the audio is fixed. Which sounds like a decoder issue, but like i said it only does it on this channel

Ok sub, I was able to troubleshoot this and figure out a repeatable condition that causes this stutter issue (which isnt really "stutter" per-se but just non playing)

If I am recording and watching a program the recording goes fine.

If I stop watching the recording that's in progress and return to the main menu, the recording basically goes dead. It will pick up bits and pieces (perhaps keyframes) along the way, but for the most part the entire time when I'm not watching the show I'm recording the recording is bad.

I was able to record while watching, stop watching, record while watching, stop watching, record while watching (in that order) and each minute marker where I wasnt watching the program being recorded it basically wouldnt "save properly?"

Like I said, it's not so much stutter, as it just wont record it properly. The filesize does seem to be growing and playback under vlc is the same.

I tried removing the screensaver.dll (plug in) and removed the basic windows screen saver. Neither had any effect. In addition, it never got to a screen saver during my testing because I only waited roughly a minute before going back to watching the recording show.

Since it does record fine, it would sound like both driver and mux are working properly. The only difference is if it's timeshift mode or not.

Ideas?

Ok, more information on this:

It looks like this is related to when GBPVR is running and "idle" at the main menu. If I close it (but leave recording service running) all is fine.

I do have ContourHC as my skin and noticed that there is a "news ticker" enabled in it. I pulled the news ticker and I'm trying recording right now. Turning it off in the plug-ins before didnt remove the ticker from the menu, it just didnt update anymore. So I modified the XML to remove the ticker. If this works, it would seem that the display of the ticker is somehow affecting the proper saving or capture to disk. I know that sounds strange but that's all that's left in my troubleshooting.

I'll post with my findings.

Wow, that seems to have fixed it. Took the ticker off and recording is now fine.

Ok, great. Glad you got to the bottom of it.

I guess the News Ticker was using too much CPU.

See, that's the kicker it wasnt. CPU usage was under 10% on my 1.4 Ghz machine.

Well if you want more info on this PM me. Doesnt make sense that a ticker would do that, but once I removed it from the skin.xml for the main menu, it went away.
