Yes, when I make the change via the appearance manger plugin it, it appears to work (I don't get an error on the screen) and the save works (I know this because other changes are reflected). But the background does not change.

Please verify that the two background files, Background.jpg and MainBackground.jpg are not marked Read Only.

Also, rename the Background.jpg file and then manually copy a different jpg file from one of the Appearance backgrounds folders.

Thanks,

They were not and I was able to rename the background.jpg file and copy in a new one and all is well.

I did try to change the background from appearance manager again and it still does not work. It does seem to successfully create a background.jpg.new file, but for some reason I have to rename the old one and then rename the new one to make it work.

In the end, I think the xrecord issue was an issue with the picture I was using (bad dimensions) because I have tried like four different ones now and each of them work fine.

Thanks for the help.

I think I may have seen something like this before.

If they exist, delete "Background.jpg.new", "Background.jpg.bak", "MainBackground.jpg.new", and "MainBackground.jpg.bak", then see if Appearance Manager works.

BTW, glad to hear you got your custom background installed.

Thanks Again,
Old Dog
