MVP HD resolution?

Every time I tried to watch anything (SD, HD, whatever) from my ATSC receiver, the MVP rebooted.

You'll need to transcode them after recording to be a standard definition frame size, and MPEG1 layer 2 audio (rather than ATSC's AC3 audio).

Hey, that explains why the MVP couldn't play SD MPEG2 files generated by my Pioneer settop recorder (it uses AC3 encoding).

Anybody know if there's a "real time" transcoder or filter that could be hooked into GB-PVR for this purpose? An "ATSC viewing as MPEG2" plugin might also work, although I gather I'd be writing the latter myself.

What about the process used to convert xvid to mpeg on the fly?

Or maybe ffdshow?
Set it to scale all mpegs to 720x480?

I don't have a digital tuner yet & I don't convert xvid to mpeg for an mvp.

You induced me to go search around the Wiki, where I found ZProcess. That appears to be geared towards file manipulation, not really Live TV -> MVP. I suppose the whole process could be kludged to work with MVP, I'll have to check.

I try to avoid ffdshow since those codecs don't work as well with my system as nVidia PureVideo, and whenever I install it all my default filters seem to use ffdshow instead of PureVideo.

<searching archives> Long story short, before I start futzing with offline transcodes, my original idea to play around with different BDA Multiplexers is still the correct next step.

Users have apparently gotten digital "LiveTV" to work with their MVPs when using the Cyberlink mux which saves to MPEG2 file format.

OK, last night I was only partially successful at this. I was able to view "live" ATSC video on my wireless MVP, but the AC3 sound was dead as expected. I only tried SD ATSC channels, I did not attempt HD.

Re-registered the Cyberlink mux which saves ATSC as MPG files. This works fine if you don't mind silent TV.

I tried a couple of alternate dongles including MVPMC, but couldn't get the application working. This is a noob pilot error since I seem to recall something about a config file also required with MVPMC. Might play with that some more.

Is there any way to disable the ATSC channels just for the MVP? It is nice to have the digital channels for GBPVR but I don't want my MVPs crashing when I change channels.

Just wondering.

Is there a different product (MVP like) that supports digital/HD (ATSC) that is supported by GBPVR?

I use a dsm-320 to play my media on the TV. I am looking at the dsm-510 in the near future, as it plays DVR-MS media natively. I'll keep an eye on the review for a while first.
