DVD Decrypter replacement

Hi All,

Not sure if anyone has run into this but there are some new DVDs out there that DVD Decrypter cannot decrypt (unfortunately development has ceased with this awesome application). I recently found a freeware replacement product that picks up where DVD Decrypter left off. If anyone is interested here is the link http://www.ripit4me.org/.

One of the cool features is that after ripping it will populate DVDShrink with the info which is a real space saver.

*Down side is there is no command line options and the tool is all gui based so it doesn't look like this can be incorporated into the DVD Ripper plugin anytime soon - that is of course, unless one of you programmers can work your magic?

If it doesnt have command line options, then its unlikely you'll ever see an updated DVD ripper plugin that works with it.

You can keep using dvddecryptor, but you'll need an extra program like Anydvd, to decrypt the newest dvd's. Anydvd works as a driver in the background. There are more like this: http://www.videohelp.com/tools?toolsearc...orfeatures=

Ripit4me is also just a wrapper around dvddecrypter, at least that is what the web site says

How the program works

RipIt4Me uses DVD Decrypter as a ripping engine and FixVTS to clean the ripped files.

It shouldn't take you much more time for you to use this method than if you had used DVD Decrypter on its own.

In short:

1. Start RipIt4Me.
2. Insert your original DVD that you wish to backup in your DVD reader/burner.
3. The DVD will then be ripped to your hard disk.
4. After the rip, RipIt4Me will clean up the DVD and, if necessary, remove the bad cells from the VOB files, remove any fake titlesets and fix the pointers by running FixVTS.
5. Once this is done, you may choose to have RipIt4Me make your DVD start at the first valid menu.
6. Finally, RipIt4Me will open the ripped files in DVD Shrink for you.

So, I think a DVD ripping plug-in could be updated to also use FixVTS and generate the same result. I haven't felt the need to update the dvd2mpg plug-in function of the video archive plug-in yet. What DVDs have you had problems with?

* There is a new Tools menu that allows you to launch your favorite software after the rip (provided the application can open a DVD passed as an argument in its command line). The Tools menu includes an option to open the last target rip folder used.

Even if it isn't entirely possible yet I'm sure it could be in future.
