Hi all,

I love GBPVR with my MVP, but if I can link the PC to the TV with a better TV out solution, (not impressed so far with my Geforce TV-Out, and my PVR350 is no longer much use), I will as I'd really like to have DVD files in my video library, and the poor old MVP can't handle the VOB's.

Has anyone tried linking their PC to their TV with one of the "Hand View" boxes?

The branding seems to be either: Grand, Grandtec or Mentor, but they're all the same thing really.

one type here:

Another:

Anyone know how well the picture compares to TV-Out on various cards?

I might buy one anyway, and report back, but someone must have tried it!

cheers
Rick

I just rip mine to MPG's. If we really want to get 5.1 sound then i'll play the DVD but for all the kids films ripping them straight to mpg is far more appropriate and they don't have to wade through all the menus and intros.

So, you can do it, if the audio isn't a great issue.

David.
I got carried away: 3 DVB-T tuners, a DVB-S tuner, 3 MVP's and 1.1TB of storage space Smile

I know there has been discussions on the board on them vga->tv convertors. If you look around a bit you might find it. It was quite a while ago, so I can't remember where it was.
I'm not always right

hmm, looks like only one person has experience of the hand view stuff, sounds like it's up to the MVP's levels but with the possibility of image tearing.

I was hoping more people would have tried this kit out.

I might give it a go.

Ahh yes, but I want the menus etc, I'd like a DVD library on HDD.
I reckon flogging all the DVD's on ebay will more than pay for the disk space they use Wink

Also, because I use the MVP, it's a pain in the backside converting all my divx/xvid downloads to mpeg, they don't always convert well.

A ~£30 box that saves me all the hassle of converting stuff & lets me push GBPVR direct to my TV sounds like a great solution.
