i've been rather creative using GBPVRcli output, processing it through batch script

standby/hibernate is called from postprocessing.bat (or some regular task), if no recording is scheduled within defined timeframe, no connected client & no other activity.

there's no need to waste time to add standby switch / function to GBPVRcli as there are allready many ways to get that done ;-)

Have you read this post? You can use it along with Windows Task Scheduler to only shutdown the computer during certain hours of the day if GB-PVR isn't doing anything. It doesn't do the clever stuff like checking connected clients though.

yep, 've seen it before. that doesn't check for playback/livetv as far as i see?

Good good. No, it doesn't check for playback but perhaps it could be adapted for live tv using the batch file RecordingStatus.bat which fires every time the status of your tuner's change including when you stop and start watching live tv.
