Use of Panels decreases performance?

I have found a huge difference in performance if I turn the panels on the main menu on.

If the panels are on, the TV Guide is very sluggish.

In VideoArchiver, I have measaured the time to scroll once through my complete list of shows. With the panels on, it takes 80 seconds. Without the panels, it takes 40 seconds!

The panels must be using a lot of the available cpu cycles?

I don't see how the panels would be affecting the videoarchiver or the TV guide, since they only appear on the main menu, and therfore won't be using any cpu cycles while you are in the guide or archiver

Neither do I, but the fact remains... Have you tested it?

I cant think what would possibly cause this. I've just checked to see if I can reproduce it here, but I dont notice anything. What panels were enabled?

I don't see any difference on my system either

That is very strange since it is so pronounced on my system (Pentium 4, 1.8GHz, XP SP2, 512MB RAM).

The two panels I refer to are the "Clock" and "NextRecording" panels that Sub's release have disabled by default, but I removed the start- and end-comment brackets.
