Sub. Here is my little how-to attempt fot ATSC ATI HDTV Wonder Users:
The new Manual ATSC Tune request format is as follows: T:<Frequency>,<Major>,<Minor>~P:<Program ID>~V:<Video PMT>~A:<Audio PID>~PMT:<PMT PID>~N:><Program Number> The latest version of GBPVR 98.13 can scan ATSC signals and produce these tuning requests automatically, except for the ATI HDTV Wonder. You need to download tsreader from http://www.coolstf.com/tsreader/ To find the different variables on the format line , you need first to go to http://antennaweb.org and enter your address to locate the different ATSC channels that are broadcasted on your area. After you enter that info, a screen which is color coded for the different antenna types will list each station. The column that you are interested on is the last column, Frequency Assignment. Start TSREADER, The first time you start TSReader , you should do a Scan. The Info on antennaweb.org might be outdated and the scan will tell you the channels that you actually receive. On the Muxes List, Select the Frequency given by AntennaWeb and Click on Tune. If your signal strength is good enough, you will see a snapshot of the first frame of video and a bunch of stats with Active PIDS. Click on Export -> HTML Export and give the file a name, save it somewhere on your hard drive Open that file with IE or Foxpro . These are the Variables we are looking for <Frequency> : The Frequency Found from the Antennaweb.org listing <Major> (Major Number) <Minor> (Minor Number) (Say the physical channel is 10-1 (Local ABC On Miami, FL , Major is 10 and minor is 1) <Program ID> Listed on the link called "Program" on the top lines of the html export. <Video PMT> The PMT under the line Stream Type: MPEG Video <Audio PMT> The PMT under the line Stream Type: AC3-Audio (There might be more than one Audio PMT. I chose the first one and it woked out good for me. <PMT PID> Should be about the fourth line on the top of the export where it says PMP PID XX (0xXXX) <Program Name> You can put anything you want here. As an example, one of my stations produced this export : Program Association Table PAT Version Number: 9 Transport Stream ID: 569 (0x0239) PMT PID 48 (0x0030) - Program 3 WSCV-DT Program Map Table(s) Program Number: 3 WSCV-DT Descriptor: Registration Descriptor Format identifier: 0x47413934 (GA94) Descriptor: Smoothing Buffer Descriptor SB Leak Rate: 48481 SB Size: 2048 Stream Type: 0x02 MPEG-2 Video PID 49 (0x0031) MPEG Video: Bitrate 15.000 Mbps Resolution 704 x 480i MPEG Video: Framerate 29.97 fps Aspect Ratio 4:3 Chroma Format 4:2:0 Descriptor: ATSC Caption Service Descriptor ATSC Caption Service Descriptor: Language: eng Format: Line 21 captions from Even field Descriptor: Data Stream Alignment Descriptor Alignment type: video access unit Stream Type: 0x81 AC-3 Audio PID 52 (0x0034) AC3: Bitrate 192 Kbps Sample Rate 48 KHz AC3: Mode complete main Coding 2/0 L, R Descriptor: Registration Descriptor Format identifier: 0x41432d33 (AC-3) Descriptor: ATSC AC-3 audio Descriptor ATSC AC3 Descriptor Now the Tune format line would be T:52,51,1~P:3~V:49~A:52~PMT:48~N:>51.1 WSVC-DT The Frequency 52 was found on antennaweb.org or after scanning with TSReader. Hope this helps ATI HDTV Wonder Users.

Cheers, when I get some time I'll try to update the wiki to include this, and some updated info for those that can use the new scanning stuff.

Sub. My next project, hopefully on the very near future, is to build a standalone GBPVR based ATSC PVR.
I know that I can start gbpvr on LiveTV with the -direct "Live TV" command line option. What happens if I opt to do TimeSHift all the time ?. In other words, my Installation would start gbpvr on Live TV, but TimeShifted so everything that is doing is always being recorded. Is there anything on GBPVR that would start deleting the old TimeShift buffers ? Say that I live the machine on 24 hours a day doing Live TimeShift, just as a ReplayTV or a TIVO would. When will GBPVR start deleting old content before I run out of Hard Drive, specially with HDTV at 6GB per hour ? I assume the way that Replaytv works is that it monitors programs based on its EPG and may be after 10 hours or so starts deleting old recorded content. Has anyone ever tried to do this with GBPVR ?

heh, quite a surprise seeing my screensaver as the default splash screen, feel very humbled
If you need any graphics work done, feel free to drop me an email or whatever sub, funkyredchicken@hotmail.com - least i can do for this awesome software, have been recommending it to everyone. A real asset to the PVR community (hell, its the best by a mile).

Shannon Wrote:Hey Sub, Speaking of the splash screen, there's a small bug in the config app that relates. If you uncheck "show splash" and then save the config, then reopen the config "use screensaver" is now unchecked and "show splash" is checked. clicking nothing except ok "to save the config" and then reopening the config app has the 2 now reversed. They will toggle each time you save the config and then reopen. Opening config.xml and checking the contents leads me to believe that the config app is saving the settings to the wrong variables.

martint123 Wrote:Thanks, I've just started downloading.I too am a firefox user. It was your posting of this message that led me to solve my problem. When I loaded the Sept version, I thought it loaded correctly but after 2 days when I tried to load a plugin, I lost GBPVR completely! I solved the problem by downloading the update through internet explorer where you get the box asking if you accept the terms & conditions. I am not very experienced in this area but I think that if you don't get a "proper installer" screen, the program information doesn't get into the "registry" and microsoft prevents you from accessing the program.

Hello.........I am a new user of your software. I have a Hauppauge PVR-150 in the system in my sig below. I've been using the Hauppauge canned software for years and yours has it all beat.
Is there a step by step configuraton help file anywhere that I can look at. A few of the options don't seem quite right but things seem to work OK. I am just curious what might make it even better. Nice Job and I look forward to contributing and learning here. |
