I've been having some odd problems today, which went a little like this:

- A scheduled recording started at 18:00 and ran without problems for a while

- I did something silly in GBPVR which caused the recording service to stop/crash/die (which is another problem entirely) - this meant the recording stopped early.

- After this Slimm GBPVR still reckoned the programme was recording, so I told it to cancel the recording. I got the confirmation box to say it had been cancelled, but the "record" animation was still going, and the popup still said it was recording.

- A while later (after the recording should have finished) it's still flashing away, but this time the popup says "finishing in -23 minutes" :-)

Quitting and re-starting Slimm GBPVR didn't make any difference, and neither did re-starting the recording service. The only way I managed to fix it was with a reboot - not so good Sad

Other than that though, I like it - it's far more useful than the standard tray icon!

A bit more info to add:

Using the config app while recording has the same effect (I get the "are you sure" warnings from both GBPVR and Slimm before restarting the recording service). After it's restarted a pop up appears "GBPVR has finished recording" but still the icon keeps flashing green...

I'm using the current version downloaded from the wiki with v98.13b. The only thing that may be confusing your app is that I use GBPVR on both the PC and a MediaMVP, so at times there may be two GBPVR.exe instances running.

Another weird thing: each time I restart the recording service a new instance of the original GBPVRTray.exe gets started. Why might this be?

Use Slimm GBPVR->Tools->Report Error and attach your logs please.

I'm gonna have to go and find this here 0.98.13b as I only seem to have a 0.98.13.

If it happens again, use Slimm GBPVR->Tools->Tuner Status to confirm that GBPVR is still reporting that it is recording. Also, you could note whether you hard drive light is flashing like it does when it is recording. It is very very very odd that restarting the recording service and / or Slimm GB-PVR didn't fix the problem. Congratulations! Big Grin

I don't have a Media MVP server and have no idea how it works or how it impacts Slimm GB-PVR.

The default GB-PVR tray app is autoatmically restarted when you press OK from the GB-PVR config utility. I would not have expected it to re-appear when you simply restart the recording service (unless this is behaviour that has changed with this here 0.98.13b).

OK, I'll send some logs later when I'm at home. I didn't realise it was OK from Config that restarts the tray app - there won't be a way of stopping this behaviour will there (short of replacing GBPVRTray.exe with a null program)?

I checked there was no disk activity etc - the actual recording file stopped growing and was closed after a grand total of 8 minutes. Maybe something in GBPVR itself was still reporting the recording as ongoing - in which case you're off the hook and I'll go pester sub Wink I'll check the behaviour with the standard Tray app next...

(ps AFAIK v98.13b is just the standard 98.13 with the patches from the "survival guide" thread applied)

Nope. Anyway, how often you will be using the Config utility. Once GB-PVR is setup, that's it.

Thanks. As far as I know I use the same piece of code to determine if GB-PVR is recording as sub (I emailed him for it Big Grin). I check the tuner status using a TCP channel to communicate with the recording service.

A-ha! Well, I redownloaded from the home page which should have all those items integrated.
