has its own encoding got anything to do with DRM? even if the files are compatible perhaps it uses its own wrapper like DVR-MS is to MPEG?

I saw that one on the net, but I wasn't quite ready to part with more cash.

I did a lot of exploring last night and actually came back to gb stuff.

I'm at the office right now sorry I can't give you the exact file name, but there's a program called gbconvert or something similiar (sorry it was a very late night. I'm paraphrasing the exe name.)

Anyway the basic syntax is sourcefilename destfilename WMV

It takes a while and Zune does a second conversion to get the audio codecs "right", but this had the least amount of video noise and best playback out of all the methods I tried.

I've also played with importing into microsofts various editing / converting packages & the results were, well dismal. This may be my complete lack of knoweldge on the settings.

Super is commonly recommended in the Zune forums, but it doesn't seem to like anything I've recorded with GBPVR. (Super is a front end for ffmpeg)

I tried about a dozen different suggestions for IPOD with ffmeg and while they work (requiring a second pass by the zune software) I wasn't happy with any of them.

Only the MS conversion software didn't require a second pass in Zune, however it has some of the worst play back. (Could be me).

Anyway I'm sure either gbconvert (what is it actually called?) and / or ffmpeg could be automated, but I'm still in "learning mode".

Hopefully something in this over-tired rambling helps somebody Smile

Cheers!

I heard it was something to do with square vs round pixels or something. Dunno.
