Vongo does not seem to support Media Extenders like the MVP, I want to be able to watch vongo on my big screen downstairs from my comp, so I thought that I would run an S-vid cord from output of my video card to input of my PVR-500, I mapped a channel to s-vid, unplugged my monitor restarted my comp started MVP with the GBPVR software and went to live TV to the channel that I mapped to S-vid, I got static and red screen sometimes. should this haved worked?
Thanks
Chris

Try this. Hook your PC video card S-Video and audio cables out directly to your TV, can you see / hear Vongo movies on your TV?

If so, I believe what your trying to do is possible because I've hooked up something similar with my VCR that as time permits, I'm copying home movies from tape to mpeg2 digital format.

What I did in GBPVR config was to create another capture source called AV1. It has no tuner or EPG and is defined as a Direct Recording Plugin. I have the RCA video and stereo audio jacks out of the VCR connected to their respective inputs on my PVR-150. I suppose I could have used S-Video rather than the RCA jack for video if I had that on my VCR but I don't.

When I want to record (or even watch while recording) a VCR tape, I tune my PVR-150 to AV1 and begin playing the tape and use GBPVR to record the tape to an mpeg2 file... just like doing a manual record on any other TV program.

Hope that helps. Let us know how you progress on this.

I went to Vongo's website and watched Vongo's spiel and it says 'if you can hook your PC to your big-screen TV, you can watch Vongo movies on your big-screen TV' so... I'd say it should be doable.

I know nothing about Vongo except what is on their web page. I assume you download it in some proprietary format and can't save it directly or transcoded as an MPEG. As an option instead of the PC to GBPVR to MVP, you should be able to send the signal out of your PC sVideo into a modulator that you can inject the signal into your home cable system. You can set it up for any open channel. This way you just tune any TV in the house to the modulated channel and you can watch the show. I use a stereo modulator off my MVP to allow me to watch on another TV and still be in sync with my main viewing TV in a close room. Just a thought.

soccerdad's suggestion while valid would require you to 'go to PC and start the movie playing' then 'go to TV and set the TV to channel X' to watch the movie.

Then again... now that I think about it... your original question would require you to do the same thing. Ideally you'd want to be able to do it all from your TV in another room.

Unless somehow... you can remotely start the Vongo applicaion and select your movie to view which sends the movie out of your video card into your PVR-500 then through GBPVR out to the MVP connected TV.

A little off topic, but what settings do you use to record off the VCR?
I've read a hundred different opinions about resolution & bitrate.
I eventually just went with 720x480 at I think around 6000 for DVD compatibility.
I have one of those advanced 4 or 6 head VCR's with s-video out.
I didn't even know I had one until I read what to use & took a look at what I had stuffed in the closet.

The quality looks as good as can be expected.

I was looking at the Vongo website, what resolution are these movies at?

I don't know what the res. of the movies are but they look good on both my comp monitor and on my 27" TV when I move my comp to the living room...
