Pressing play on a future show highlights it in yellow (or whatever color).

If you are watching TV when it gets to that show, it changes to it automatically. If you are not watching TV, it does nothing (does not autoplay).

An alternative would be a y/n setting to change a cued show to record automatically if you aren't watching at the time (assuming you meant to, but couldn't for some reason).

Gee this is a clever trick I did not even know of!!! Your suggestion would really perfect it.

Then suggesting here is the perfect use of the "Wishlist" fourm Wink

It's kind of shame it won't be added. It would seem not programactically hard, and something people would like/use. It would also make for a "new feature" to stand out against the the usual technical fixes and improvements that most people don't notice as much, and add some excitement to a new version.

Doing things like that improves the rate of users using a new version, which I know sub really likes (getting people to stop using old versions).

Its not that I wont add it. Its more that it wasnt a feature I found myself using on company cable box that did this, so not very high on my priority list. I do know few people have asked for it in the past, so I'll probably add it one day.

Last time we looked into it, there were remaining questions on what should happen in multi machine or MVP setups. ie, if I tell it to watch a specific show while I'm on the main lounge PC, but its on late at night when I'm likely to be in bed view bedroom MVP or client PC, what happens...

Maybe not solving it all at once is the best thing then.

Just add it as an on/off in settings, and have it work under normal, general conditions w/ the note that it may not work for everyone yet. It would probably be easier to flesh it out it steps anyway, from what you're saying.

I think the reports and feedback that would come after would make solving particular issues a heck of a lot easier.

Anyway, thx for continuing to consider it. I think it would be a simple but fun and useful improvment.

As I said, its not very high on my priority, so I probably wont be implementing it soon, but when I do I will need to have an answer to this multi client setup. I cant just ignore this one, and will need to do something about it one way or another when I do implement it.

OK, I'm not a programmer (other than Sinclair BASIC Smile) but would this work....?

A pop up would appear on all screens "a reminder has been set for this program - watch/cancel"
Which ever room you're viewing in you press 'watch' and this sends back the machine ID to GBPVR (server), which works out which tuner card is connected to that machine and changes over the channel.
Obviously anyone watching in other rooms could 'cancel' the popup, or it would timeout if everyone had gone to bed.

BTW - correct me if I'm wrong, but this can be done with similar coding effort by a plugin, right? I mean, it would have to be one of the "guide" plugin, but I believe "they" can do it.
