I use DVD Shrink to backup dvd's. What I'd like to be able to do is view the backup files directly from my hard drive through my MediaMVP instead of having to burn them to a disk. Is this possible to do, while maining the DVD's menu functions (so that is still acts like a dvd and not simply mpeg or avi).

I tried using XDvd to do this, but this isn't working.

Let me know if there is a plugin that should let me do this, or a reliable decoder that can convert the DVD Shrink files into MPEGs or AVIs.

By the way, I tried converting the files to MPEG-4 with Nero, but they won't read with my GBPVR/MediaMVP setup.

Thanks.

Sorry, there is no DVD playback on the MVP. You're only options are using some utility to convert the DVD into a regular MPEG2 video file, or trying the XDvd plugin which tries to do this on the fly. Neither option will give you DVD menus though.

You can do this within My Videos plugin and also the inbuild videos function of GBPVR I believe. You can play ISO files - which is the file I rip DVD's to.

Not via the MVP though.

I don't think there is a plugin that will allow you to watch DVDs with the menus over the MVP; XDVD is the closest and pulls the MPEG off the disk.

To do what you describe with shrink images, Iuse VOB2MPEG to pull the mpeg off the disk; depending on the disk, I sometimes have to use VobBlanker to get around any 'funny business' on the disk. Not exactly a one-click solution, but do-able.

A quick google should turn these tools up. Good luck.
