Can someone explain what MultiDec plugins are? I have searched the web, seems main site is in a non-English language. What do they do and what are they good for?

There is a couple of easy steps to getting it working with MD plugins.

1) Download http://www.gbpvr.com/mdapi.zip and extract the two files to c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr.
2) On the Misc tab of the GB-PVR Config app, tick the 'enable MDAPI support' checkbox on the bottom right the screen.

After that, any MD plugins found in c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\MDPlugin will be used during live tv or recording. Settings pages for these plugins can be accessed through the tray icon.

What exactly are MultiDec plugins?

What a great Christmas gift! I just got the HDTV GT device delivered yesterday; excited to try that out. Which makes me wonder, would it be better to add in the new tuner first and then upgrade, or upgrade and then add in the new tuner? Since I'll likely be doing both this long weekend, is there a recommended order?

Thanks, sub. Hope everybody has a merry Christmas and happy New Year. Big Grin

Is the MSaccess DB still supported in this release or only SQlite?

I know a few releases back you wanted to migrate totally to SQlite but hedged your bets a little.
Core2-E2180, 1G RAM, 1Gb-5450 Silent, 2Tb +300g HDDs.
Three tuners: Twinhan DVB-T x 1, Hauppauge Nova 500T (dual)

DTB Digital SD + HD content (PAL-MPEG2-AC3).
Custom case made very quiet. Zalman CPU cooler.
Sits in rack with other HiFi.

ParaLED to show tuner activity.

Its a standard used in lots of software for allowing plugins to get a chance to process the digital stream received by a capture device before GB-PVR uses it.

There are dozens (may hundreds?) of multidec plugins that exist that do all sorts of useful things. From stuff like logging transport stream information, extracting TV listings from the digital stream, decrypting of encrypted TV channels, sharing TV subscription smartcards between multiple capture cards in a single PC (or multiple PCs), or recording digital satellite services that would normally require you to use your set top box connected to your analog capture device.

At this point I should mention that I'm not going to let the GB-PVR forums become a haven for discussions relating to pirating tv, even though this is a potential use of this new functionality....

It'll mainly be of use to people using DVB (including those DVB satellite services in North America), but there are lots of potential uses for this for other digital systems like ATSC etc. Aswell as existing plugins, it also makes the stream available for developers that want to develop there own plugins to get info from the digital stream (UK MHEG5, ATSC EPG etc)

I havnt done anything to intentially stop it working, but the default install uses SQLite, and its the only thing I test - so if MSAccess support was broken, I wouldnt know.

Just a reminder folks. Post and problems in the support forum, not here or I'll delete them.
