Okay, I know this can be done, I'm just not sure which is the easiest way to do it and which, if any, plugins are needed.

I want to see whether a show is a "repeat" or not on the guide. (original air date would be nice in the description)

I'd also like to be able to see "repeat" flag of some sort in the web interface. I mostly use GBPVR via my MVP, so the guide is my main concern though.

This information is available in very few countries (USA/Canada only?), so its not something I bother storing or showing in the user interface. (ie, it'd be no use to me here in NZ)

I'm in the US. So there's no built in support for showing repeats, I thought I read somewhere that some plugin displayed it somewhere. Sounded like to make it work though, additional information had to be retrieved in the XML guide database via a plugin. I'm a little nervous about messing with that, heck, I don't know even where the tv guide data is stored.

I see that GBPVR can be told not to not record duplicates. Have no idea how it knows it's a dup, and thought maybe using that info it could flag something as a repeat (or already recorded) in the guide.

Yeah, no built in support for this. I think there are some plugins that try to add this sort of stuff. I'm not familiar with them though, so cant provide much advice on that front.

It does store the unique show ID allocated by zap2it, which is used for this duplicate check, but its not visible in the user interface anywhere. Basically GB-PVR doesnt schedule a recording if it sees you already have a pending or ready recording with the same show ID.

EPGextra will show the repeat flag and year of most shows if you get your guide data from Zap2it.

So if I am in the US and use Zap2it and I am recording multiple shows of the same name, then by default it will not record a duplicate of a show? Or do I need to set something somewhere? but if I delete a show during a season and it is repeated later in the season it will still record that correct? thanks.

Correct, assuming you've still got the 'dont record duplicates' setting still enabled in the config app.

Hopefully this is the right place for this Q.

If I don't have Zap2it, schedulesdirect or whatever, is there a way I can schedule a season recording based on the title (lets say "CSI") and it will ONLY schedule ONE instance of the 3 repeats that are in the EPG for THAT episode?

A step further would be for GBPVR to automatically schedule the season instance of the (least say 3 repeats) of that episode that has no conflict with another show.

I'll ask the same Q in EWA just in case.

Thanks!

k.

GB-PVR is only able to tell two episodes of a show are the same in the north america, where special unique show identifiers are supplied in the EPG source. This info is not available outside north america, so this logic cant be performed there.

...and before you suggest it, relying on show descriptions etc to detect specific episodes is not adequate. This has been discussed and discounted several times in the past.
