Hey all,

I received a WinTV-PVR 150 model 1062 from the Mrs., which inclides the 45 button remote. I got the card set up and working with GBPVR and both work excellent. However, the remote is another story.

Although I have attempted to install drivers off both the CD and the latest drivers available directly from Hauppauge, the IR receiver (listed as 'eHome Infrared Transceiver' in Device manager) insists that no drivers are installed. I was able to force the latest drivers to install properly by uninstalling every Hauppauge driver, running their driver clearing program (HCWClear.exe) and reinstalling everything, but I would get the "Failed to Initialize Infrared Remote Hardware" error. Although the box ans various vendors claim the kit I purchased works under WinXP Pro, I am feeling that the remote does not.

Any insite, work-arounds, etc would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

are you installing the hauppauge remote drivers? this remote needs the Microsofot driver..Smile
if you have xp pro you have it i believe...called irbus.inf i think...[irbus.sys too]
or just 'update driver' and let it search the internet for a driver..should pick up the driver from MS...Smile
or get the alternate driver [search MCEir] and use hip to control things...with that you can use any remote with the dongle! Big Grin

Thanks for your response, pBS.

I have tried to install the driver from just about every source I can think of, including my XP CD and MS Update. See the attached pic after attepmting a driver update from MC. I am beginning to think my usb IR receiver is defective...

yea, does kinda sound like it...tho it may just be your usb drivers also, they screw up quite often...do you run anything on usb? is it usb 2 or 1.1?
i would check it another machine..and once you try other drivers, then 'search internet' won't work cuz it'l search for those other driver's updates...
so try the update from web option when it first comes up...or force it to use the irbus.inf if you've installed any other drivers and then try updating from web...

have you tried the 'alternate driver? if that one doesn't work i'd say defective if usb is working fine....

also,it lights up when ou aim the remote at it and pres a button, see if that works when it's plugged in whether driver works or not..

oh and yea, force it to use the irbus.inf driver...select 'don't search,i will select a driver to use' and point it at the irbus.inf and irbus.sys files..
that should force it to use the right driver, and if it works it should be ok...may have to reboot tho..

Lymen on the MCE disk1 /i386 you can find both files but you have to expand them or use winrar. or simply search the net for them

And if you don't have the MCE install disks, install SP2 for XP, that includes the drivers for the MCE remote. At least it fixed it for me Smile

I just had the same problem with my new Adaptec dual tuner for MCE 2005. I run XP Professional and did have SP2 installed. Same problem, no device drivers. What fixed it for me is installing the Update Rollup 2 for eHome Infrared Receiver for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/912024

Yes, it says it's for MCE 2005 but installs the needed drivers just fine on XP Professional. Disconnect your tuner device, install the update, reboot, and reinstall your hardware.

From what I read this probably won't work for XP Home.

Xp Pro, with the sp2 upgrade gave me problems too. I use the XP pro sp2 iso. and it works great!

FYI: I love my USB Ir/blaster, I found an update for the VIA chipset witch helped with restarting after 'sleep' mode. Also, if you use the blaster, I found with my hardware if I have the little ir blaster hanging about 1" from the reciever window, I get better performance with the channel changing, instead of haveing it stuck on with the sticky stuff it comes with....(if that makes any sense?)
