Has anyone noticed a few more than the occasional disconnect from the MVP with the new version? It's not critical and it reconnects quickly. Mostly i've noticed it playing music, from any of the players. It seems to be fine if i push play and then don't touch it again, it's when i would go in to choose more tracts to play. The only thing i see in the logs are below. Hopefully it'll give a clue till i get a chance to attach all the logs.

tipstir Wrote:Yeah I've notice this problem since You Tube, Recordings, Live TV and Music stuff.. The only thing not effected by this is Net Radio2... Is your CPU at 100% though on the gBPVR server?

Btw did you get hit by heavy rain yesterday?

I forgotten about the new you tube, i haven't played with it much yet. It seemed a little slow thru the MVP yet. Sub said it was a last minute addition so i figured it's not quite ready for primetime yet and i'd wait till the next version to fool with it. Since i mostly use this for music i can't say i'd noticed it on the rest, perhaps the wife did when she's watching her soaps. I'll have to check with her on that. A lot of times she doesn't tell me things cause she knows she'll lose me for the night till i figure it out. Smile

CPU holds at 3% or under most of the time. there are spikes to 20% on occasion if there are one or more things recording or several MPV's going.

And yea we got hit with pretty heavy rain in the morning, probably got to you by afternoon. Smile

Yes I have noticed this too.

I have a low spec system, so if there's been any more demand CPU wise for the MVP side of things, mine's a candidate for hiccups like these.

To be honest, I think we've seen these same reports every release for the last two years, and I'm not convinced its any better or worse than any other release in that time. It just sounds like same old same old to me.

The last release did seem to drop out in the music app, if I left it playing for a while the quickly skipped a coupleof songs.

But this release seems to work great for me, noy dropped out yet and connect quickly to server, although I had to change the ffmpeg settings for transcoding.

I must add that installing this new version 99.05 conincided with a switch to my new server machine, laptop with core 2 duo t5500 + 2gb RAM, barley notice the MVP/ffmpeg is running

You could be right Sub, I've not tracked it all that close. The only difference that I've noticed from other reports of the same thing is, it happened to me. Wink

I am also noticing disconnects now with 99.5 that I had not experienced before.

I recently upgraded about a week ago from 97.13 to 99.5.

During the first few days after upgrading the mvp seemed to work great (as usual) but now 2nite we had 4 separate disconnects (while watching 2 different avi shows) so I checked the forums here to see if anyone else is having a similar issue and found this thread.

I'm not sure what's so special about 2nite but I was watching some downloaded avi's, same as I had been every other nite this week...

Bottom line: we had not seen any disconnects with the old version and now we do...

I've always gotten disconnects before, but it does seem like there are a few more now. I'm using an older dongle with the Hauppauge volume OSD. I wonder if newer GB-PVR releases are just tuned more for newer dongles? Anyone else with an older dongle? Also, as Sub said, it could just be perception.

It may be pure coincidence, but...

I have a client PC on my LAN which "seems" to be affecting the mvp disconnect behaviour. I am running WinXP pro on the client and whenever I enable and start running the MS "Help and Support" service my mvp starts randomly disconnecting. I have disabled the service for now on my client PC (it was always disabled on my server) and so far no more disconnects. Again it could be purely coincidental, especially since I can not see the relation between this service running on a client PC and the mediaMVP randomly disconnecting?

I am also wondering if the D3A's are more prone to the disconnect problem.

Anyway, just sharing my current observations...
