I didn't see anything like this, so I figured I'd post some "Safe Upgrade" directions.
If you like it, add it to the Wiki. Please fix anything that is wrong, since this is just based off my own upgrade experiances
Upgrade Steps
BACKUP your config
1. Create a temporary directory (Example, c:\temp)
2. Launch the config utility
a. Select the Plug-in tab
b. Select the Export Recordings button
(This exports your Recording list so you can re-import it if there is a problem with the upgrade)
c. Copy recording-dump.xml into the temporary directory. (Save it till after the upgrade, if you don’t need it after the upgrade, discard it)
3. Exit the Config utility
4. Stop the recording service (Found in the GBPVR start menu group)
5. Copy config.xml and gbpvr.db3 (or gbpvr.mdb if you still have an access database) into the temporary directory.
Perform upgrade
1. Download and install new version
2. After installation, if you have not upgraded to SQLite, do so now
a. In the gbpvr folder run the “ChangeDatabase.exe” program
Post Upgrade
1. Verify all functionality works. Eg. EPG, record, play back, MVP, etc.
Troubleshooting
If you have problems
Try removing all files from the Plugin’s directory (Copy them off to a temporary directory). This will disable all your plugins. This is the #1 cause of most problems, that the plug in you were using is not compatible with a newer version of GBPVR. Add each plugin (By moving it back to the plugin directory, then using the config app to re-enable it) back in one by one, till you find the one that is causing your problem.
