ATI 550 Pro Corrupt display in LiveTV

Hi,

I am finding that after a reboot I am getting corrupt video from composite input. I see a static picture and all liveTV is gray and lots of flicker.

I have uninstalled GBPVR and completely removed the DIR and reinstalled the lastest drivers. Is there anything else I can do or has anybody seen anything like this before??

Try to clean out all drivers from ATI for both video card (if it is an ATI video card) and for your Theater 550 pro driver so it will be a clean re-install of ATIs driver to support your tv-tuner card.
Tweakguides have both Catalyst and Forceware driver listed so you might want to see how to uninstall video drivers.

Driver cleaner pro is recommended to clean out all leftover after you have uninstalled driver by remove/add in windows.

Reinstall driver and use tweakguides recommendation to install video driver again. Use ATIs own driver as those should be the newest. Make also sure that you have the correct setting in config for GBPVR set to Composite in Capture source.

If your also using an ATI video card, when you install the Catalyst driver the WDM driver component overwrites the genuine 550 driver. The result being erractic 550 performance and behaviour. To fix this, simply reinstall the 550 driver.

Yeah I actually found a later 550 driver from Jan 10 so downloaded and installed it over the top and then restarted. Still the same effect. Have a look at a couple of screen shots. Hopefully someone may have seen this type of display and say "ah huh! its a codec problem... " etc etc

I dont know if it'll fix your problem or not, but you could try setting the following in the Direct.ini file:

ForceStandard=16
