Well Carlito, the mystery deepens a bit...

After downloading your last version of the tool, I now find that I can run it from the command line and produce a log using the command "ProgramImageTool.exe /Y > images.log" but the most interesting thing I found is that very few programs that existing listing are actually searched for. The majority of the line entries seem to be for movies, not programs. I did see an increase of 10 or 12 images in the art directory, but that may have been due to an update of the EPG I did just prior.

So now we have some idea why the images aren't being produced - but the question becomes why it isn't seeing the TV Programs in the XML even though the core TV Guide and the TV Listings add-ons *do*. For example, ER is on at 10:00 PM on my NBC Affiliate. It's in my Guides for both the regukar and HD presentations (Core, TV Listings, Web Interface). It's in my TVGuide.xml and xmltv.xml files. But there's no sign of ANY ER entries in the images.log file which means that the tool isn't finding ER for some reason.

I think what I'm going to do while you review the attached log is dump the entire capture entry with the EPG, toss the I-XML configuration and rebuild both. I'd dump the db but I have over 100 vids in MyVideos with posters and IMDB info and I'm loathe to recreate that from scratch unless I have no other choice.

Can you (or anyone else following the thread) suggest any kind of freeware SQLite tools that allow me to load, view and manipulate the GBPVR db?

I wouldn't reload or rebuild anything, i'm looking through your database right now and am having the same problem with it. I do get 6774 unique show names, but i'm not sure why they all aren't being searched. I'm looking into it

I like to use sqliteSpy. Its a very simple tool for exploring db3 files.

Cool; I haven't started yet so I'll hold off. I am having some difficulty in the order of my channels since they did a bit of adding, deleting and moving at my digital cable provider, so I'll probably have to rebuild eventually just to get my EPG to display the moved/new channels in their proper order, but I'm going to hold off so as not to complicate matters for you.

And thanks for the tool tip (heheh 'tool tip', get it?!?)

Thanks once again for your efforts to resolve this. I have an idea to talk to you about for another utility based on this one, but we can discuss that later.

Wow, night and day difference!! I have HUNDREDS of images now and the few that are missing have good reasoning; for example:

• My Name is Earl - the image on epguides.com is broken/missing
  

• The Office - epguide differentiates between the UK and US versions by listing them as "The Office US" and "The Office UK"
  

• The Apprentice: Los Angeles - epguides.com is listing this with the original "The Apprentice" series, so there's no name match
  

So what did you catch in looking at my db? :confused:

Here's the idea I was speaking of before; I'm wondering if you couldn't take the same idea behind the ProgramImageTool and create the "MovieImageTool". You could scan IMDB.com and pull down the movie posters similar to the way that you do with the program images. This would complete the TV Listings picture feature and really make things look great!

I realize the naming convention is a bit different, but you could build on the work done in My Videos and the Video Archive (which has it's own tool that scans the video directory and then grabs movie info from IMDB.

What do you think? Something possible for the future? I'm thinking you could even work with alibert and have an option for the poster images to go in a separate directory and have them link to the URL at IMDB so that if you wanted more info you could simply click on the image or a labelled button.

Something to think about, but in any case thanks very much for finding and fixing this issue with me. I appreciate the time you took and really love this utility!!

Actually, it was a programming error/overlook on my part. For you it was breaking on the image for Armed & Famous. This image is slightly larger then most images stored on epguides and my buffer just wasn't quite long enough. The fix: make the buffer bigger

As for the IMDB image idea, I have been thinking of doing this for a while and have been trying to come up with a way to download movie images consistently. I may have something (granted, in my thoughts only) but I will try somethings out and see what happens.

Armed and Famous...of all things to break it *that* piece of celeb/reality dreck!!:eek: I read a scathing review of it in my local paper where the author hoped that "Muncie, Indiana was paid handsomely for selling out their police ofrce and citizens"!

hahaha, i thought the same thing when i found out that was the image breaking my code! If anything, at least it's existence let me make my code a little better
