Increasing the W.A.F. (Wife Acceptance Factor)

My Girlfriend started using GBPVR pretty much right away but had lots of complaints. My new Harmony remote has been a big help here. I have GBPVR feeding into a secondary input on my TV. It's neccesary to change the tv input and the sound system input to go from watching live tv off the STB to the PVR. The harmony does all this with one button press.

The best thing about a high WAF for me is that I now get to use "Our Money" to maintain the system, buy equipment etc. When it was my hobby I needed to use "My Money".

My girlfriend spotted it in the guide and recorded it for me.

That's very generous of you sixgun but no, we saw that episode which was quite fun.

In fact this was the recording that prompted me to make point 1 as I had apparently lost the last 2 mins of the show which (as you can image) went down like a Led Balloon. In fact the missing 2 mins were on the next recording as they were back to back recordings. (I have enabled config param to use alternate tuners when possible to reduce the risk of this)

The episode that I was referring to was the last one of series 2. I have since "found it" on the web.

I've given up on my wife ever actually remembering what I tell her. The only thing she does remember is when I tell her I'll trade her in for 2 23 year olds (she' 46). Now that gets her attention pretty darn fast.

This is surprisingly important. She can change curtains, sofa cushions, wall paper or roof tiling without asking your opinion, but when it comes to the looks of gbpvr (the computer she tells you is "your toy"), then all of a sudden... there's no end to it

We've gotten to the point that I've overheard her tell a friend or two about the system.

This was my measurement of success, she talks about it like everyone should have one... all i have to do is remember gEd's rule #1!

I endorse the Harmony Remote - absolutely essential (for me, too ).

Agree, stability is essential, too.

My wife still watches television directly but, hey, it works fine that way. There are no CDs around so she uses GBPVR for music. She usually lets me schedule recordings but I have gently tried to get her to do it herself.

And, yes, it is fun to hear her tell others about viewing photos etc from the TV!
