Hi I have an HP media center pc it comes with the conexant blackbird 2388x tvtuner card which works perfectly in media center.
I recently purchased a pvr-500 and just threw it in this machine.
Due to microsofts DRM(Digital Rights Management) blocking me from watching sopranos last night on A&E i've decided to try out GBPVR instead of suing microsoft for violating my right to watch anything I want on my tv..... Ok enough with that, its a whole different topic......

I tried your software about a year ago and back then I believe it had no support for my conexant blackbird card or I could never get it to work I can not remember.
Here is my issue, when I go to the sources and choose DETECT it detects my conexant and the 2 pvr500's just fine.

Upon using your PVR detector (DeviceTypeCheck.exe) it says that device #1 is pvr500 with fm and device #2 is PVR500, and does not show my conexant blackbird as a device at all.

If I go into the sources and tell it i only have the conexant blackbird it will only let me set this as device #1 I tried 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 and it says no device is there.
After updating the EPG I go to the guide and choose a channel all i get is a black screen. Upon watching the video stream coming from the conexant card I see it did change the channel so GBPVR is controlling the card it is just not getting its video or audio source.

The same thing happens if I setup each of the pvr 500's by themselves. I setup PVR500 as device #2 by itself and still get a black screen no video or audio. Upon checking the video source from this device I see the GBPVR again did communicate with the card and changed its channel.

I tried swapping the pvr500fm to the oppsosite devices but it does not work and according to your device checker should not work as its wrong.
I have set all three sources also conexant blackbird device #1 pvr 500 fm device #1 and pvr 500 as device #2, as the setup insists there is no device #3 and wont let me set any to device #3. Still i get no audio or video, and GBPVR only will control the last source I add from watching your Recording Status utility I can see im changing the channels on the last device source i added. I see no way to change devices in GBPVR.

Can you tell me what is wrong why i can not see or hear any video or sound? Is the issue that GBPVR sees my conexant blackbird and pvr500 fm as both being on device #1? But then why would pvr500 on device #2 act the same way?
I also tried to play the FM source on the pvr500 and upon doing a scan around 88fm it picked up a tv station audio not a radio.
I suppose I could yank the conexant out and see what happens, but I thought I would inquire here first. I searched your site and was not able to find another person witht he same issues.

Oh also, when I use the tuning assistant when isntalling devices 1 at a time it finds all the channels and they are all crytsal clear no sound but i dont think its looking for sound?

Thanks

UPDATE............

Ok I am not sure what just happened. I stopped the media centers eh* services and now I am watching tv on device #1 and recording tv on #2.
I loaded media center back up and am watching another channel on my conexant tuner.
I tried to throw the conexant back into the mix but GBPVR kept thinking it and the other tuner on device #1 were the same card.

These settings i also just changed so I am not sure this caused thigns to work?

Playback I have set as Video decoder DEFAULT
Audio decoder AC3filter
audio render direct sound: sb audigy 2zs

deinterlace ffdshow raw video filter
BDA Multiplexor ATI MPEG Mux
Enabled multidec

I tested the recording its doing and its perfect.

Ok this is the service that is stopping my palyback in GBPVR

C:\>net stop ehrecvr
The Media Center Receiver Service service is stopping.
The Media Center Receiver Service service was stopped successfully.

When i stop that service GBPVR works jsut fine...
Thanks.

On MCE its normal that you'd have to stop some services, otherwise it holds on to the devices making them unavailable for use in GB-PVR.

Is there still a problem, or is it all working as expected now?

Hi thanks for your reply.......

Im able to get GBPVR working with the pvr-500 but to use my conexant also i need to use MCE, because as i noted GBPVR thinks my conexant blackbird is device#1 and it also thinks my pvr500 is device #1.
This is from the setup of sources. When i use your find device utility as I stated it does not find my conexant at all......

So Im still plagued with the issue of GBPVR not being able to work with both of my tuner cards at once. Im not sure what resolve this could be. If this issue were resolved I dont see how i can watch 2 channels at once with GBPVR. so im stuck with using mce for the conexant and GBPVR with the pvr-500 and having both applications fight over volume levels which is annoying.

Do you think this can be resolved through sttings? or its a driver thing thats causing them to both detect on device#1?

Thats correct. You only increase the device number when you've got multiple devices using the same drivers.

The PVR500 should be device #1 and device #2. The blackbird should be device #1.

oK i put the conexant back in as device#1

it just comes up with a black screen with no audio.....
I even rebooted to make sure media center didnt have hold of it.

pvr500 and pvr500fm are both working fine,. i had then both recording and went to the conexant... still black and no audio

note. I just removed the conexant from the source list.
When I went back to the guide to watch tv the guide was empty.....
I wonder if that has something to do with black screen? The guide was not empty before though.
After I added the conexant I did update the EPG.

Nothing springs to mind, but zip and attach the logs and I'll see if I can see anything obvious happening.
