Ok, now i dont know if i didnt this correctly but when I was programming HIP to control my STB I ended up programming 0-9 using my actual remote from my cable box. I dont know if that is the remote I was supposed to use or is i was supposed to use the MCE remote. I had no success with the MCE remote the first time to change the STB. However, as i mentioned earlier, the MCE remote was sending commands to hip and the OSD was changing channel but not the actual picture.
Now that HIP is programmed with the code from the remote from the cable box, it works. So now i have 2 OSD when i change the channel, which is not a big deal. I'm fairly certain that this is NOT the correct way to get the MCE remote to change the STB, but this was just a way to try to figure out my problems.

So, now i present my question.
If i programmed HIP to follow the EXACT instructions on the PDF tutorial and the ODS does show that it's receiving commands and not actually changing the channel, what would case my channels not to change?

I hope this is clear.

Man, Remote controls how I loath them.

I think to make your problem clear you need to see which OSD is shown when you use your STB with your STB remote.

Then program the STB remote in HIP and the IR blaster you wish to use with HIP.

Now in HIP you should be able to 'Test' that the codes are being sent from the IR Blaster to your STB and successfully changing the channel.

All of this does not need your MCE remote.

Hope that helps

Well, since i've trained HIP the codes from teh cable remote, I see the OSD from my cable provider and from GBPVR, I know that's not right and im gonna go back to the PDF tutorial and reporgram, but atleast now it's changing the channels. When I initially set up hip using the pdf tutorial I saw one OSD and that was from GBPVR. When i pressed channel up the OSD changed but not the actual channel/picture on the tv. So my remote is sending and changing the channel in GBPVR it's just not actually not changing it. Sad
my blasters work fine, and they flash like they should. ARRRHHH, the frustration.

If I understand you correctly you are saying when you change channels the OSD from the cable box is showing. I do not think you will be able to prevent this because that is the normal operation of the cable box. The only way I got around this was because I am using a Motorola HD box and if I set the ouput to 1080i it will not display the OSD on the S-Video out.

yes, but both OSD's are showing at the same time, my cable providers and GBPVR's. I'm fairly certain that only GBPVR's OSD should only show. But when i config the remote like the pdf turorial says, it does show only the gbpvr OSD and it does register that the channel is changing but it actually doesnt.

I might not fully understand what you are explaining but I know on my cable STB that when I change channels it displays the OSD for a few seconds. When using GBPVR to change channels I get get the same behavior with the cable box OSD showing for a few seconds. As far as when watching a show and viewing the mini guide, guide or info I only see GBPVR. The only time I see the cable box is when I change the channel. As I said above the way I got around this was because the Motorola box when set to 1080i doesn,t display any OSD on the s-video or composite output.
