I stumbled upon the great program Ultrastar yesterday.
Its looks and works like the Singstar PS2 program, but for PC.
It can use both MP3 and videos. Music files can be found via Google.
Download Ultrastar at:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ultrastar/

My kids loved it and we had great fun singing "karaoke" yesterday.
I just had to skin it like Blue MCE2. The original theme looks like the PS2 original.

You can download the skin from my wiki.

I've also been looking at a program called
Frets On Fire.
It's basically a guitar hero type game for the PC, letting you rip the songs off of your original guitar hero discs as well as a lot of custom songs, and play them using your keyboard or guitar controller through a ps2/usb connector.

So far I am very impressed with it.

Hey thanks for pointing out UltraStar software, Mixman. Looks like it's going to be something really good but dubious quality of voice pitching and timing from some of the files I've found so far makes it a little difficult. I might have to have a go at making some up myself!
Cheers!!
