Hello,

I wanted to use GBPVR to be able to watch tv from my normal capture card (ATI 550), my OTA HD card, and also to play games through the composite in of my 550. I set up the composite last night after monkeying around for a while to figure out how to get it to work (you have to set it up as a seperate capture device and assign a channel to it), but the problem is when I go to it it starts that crazy "time-shifting" thing and everything is a few seconds delayed which makes game playing impossible..is it possible to turn off this annoying feature? I don't want to rewind or pause tv..I also don't want it shortening the life span of my hard drives by constantly writing data to them.

It doesnt do time-shifting be default. Do you have the 'use live preview mode if possible' setting ticked on the Misc tab of the config app? It usually is, and tells the app to not do any disk buffering.

The exception to this is if you're using an MVP, then its always in timeshift mode.

If I am in LiveTV, and want to go time shift mode, all I need to do is PAUSE?
Or this needs to be set in config first?

I am also puzzled about when/if timeshift takes effect.

You can either have timeshift mode permanently enabled by unchecking the setting I mentioned above, allowing you to press pause any time you want, or you can use live preview mode, where you have to press pause to start timeshift mode.

I prefer faster channel changing and no disk buffering, so I use live preview mode, which is the default.

Even in live preview mode, there is still going to be some minor delay (about half a second) as the video makes its way through the hardware encoder, so its probably not the best way to try to play console games - where response time is everything.

So, there is no way to turn off timeshifting per capture device?

So bottom line, Is it at all possible to kill all delays? I just want to be able to play my console games through my computer because I can't afford a $50 composite to monitor connection thingy and I''ve all ready got my Visontek xtasy 550 theater pro. I've gotten it to work almost perfectly by ticking the "live preview if possible" unticking the "return to ..." one and choosing the "ffdshow raw video filter" for the deinterlacer

the only problem is every now and then I get dropped frames and I would use the "encoder-pass through" ,which doesn't drop frames, but it reintroduces the time delay

I'll get what ever program make whatever change it would just make me very happy if I could get this to work

does anyone have any suggestions?
