I've just uploaded http://www.gbpvr.com/GBPVR02313.msi

This release is primarily to address changes that were made to the zap2it data format a few days ago. Sorry for a slow turn around on this, but I've been busy and I also had to back a few changes out - I wasnt expecting to release anything for a few more weeks. I did leave a couple of other bug fixes I'd made in the release. The complete list is:

2004-12-10 v0.23.11 (maintenance release)
- Changed Zap2it EPG plugin to work with recent changes to the zap2it data
- Fixed a bug with "weekly" manual reoccuring recordings
- Fixed a bug that would stop comskip files being used on the PVR350.

Hi sub,
one question :
What must I do to install it ?
Just open the MSI and install it over my old version or are all settings lost ?
How can I keep my old settings ?

Regards

Just open the msi, and it'll preform an upgrade. Your settings and recordings will be retained.

thank you so much for the fix!!
was stressing so much about the EPG thing.
many, many thanks for the great app.

small suggestion - feel free to nuke post after this...how about having the GB recorder icon go yellow if you're within x (2?) days of running out of EPG. this'll flag to the user that something's messed up...and they won't find themselves missing shows, either due to an overzealous firewall, or this zap2it thing.

I just tried this software for the first time and it seems awesome! I only have 2 questions: Is it supposed to be so slow in changing channels? And, is there a way to keep it from losing audio when you pause and restart or fast forward?

Thanks!

On my development PC, it takes two seconds to change channels. Some people have reported its taking 10 seconds on their machines, so I'm investigating.

This has also been reported, and should be fixed in the next release.

I have a Hauppauge 250 with a Red-Eye Serial IR Blaster (http://www.redremote.co.uk/serial) that uses the command line option in GBPVR config, connected to a PACE box. Having timed it, it takes approx 7 seconds to change channels in live TV.

The IR Blaster has a demo programme so that I can type the channel number and click "send". This takes about a second (maybe a little over that but less than 2) to change the channel.

My question are:
1. is it the calling of a dos commanded programme that makes it slow?
2. is it possible to not record livetv - until the record/pause button is pressed on the remote
3. is it possible to provide more than just the channel number to the dos programme. Channel Up/Down for example. This would make it quicker as less information is transferred and "blasted" to the cable box

My PC is a 2.4GHz P4 Prescott (Overclocked to 3.0GHz), 512 memory and a 120Gb Hard disk dedicated to PVR, so it's not slow!

If you need further info or I can help in any way then please let me know.

PS: I also lose audio

1) Using the IR Blaster definitely slows things down, regardless of whether its calling an external program, or using the built in IR support (IR200L, USB-UIRT, RedRat3). This adds about 2 seconds to the channel changing processing. This isnt really a problem for recordings, but is a pain in the arse if you're trying to watch TV. There's not really too much I can do about it.

2) Nope. GB-PVR is designed to be compatible with a variety of clients (PC, XCard, PVR350, MVP). The one thing they all have in common is the fact they can play MPEG files. So in effect, I have to write to the lowest common denominator.

3) I'd prefer not to do this, but you never know - may in future. GB-PVR doesn't really know what channel your cable/sat box is on, or if it's been changed since you changed channels or performed a recording (which could have been hours ago), so I prefer send the complete channel number. It also keeps things simpler.

[b Wrote:Quote[/b] ]I wonder if they have their L2 cache turn on to the max and Network buffers set to the max?
I dont know, but to be quite honest - I've never tweaked any of these values on my machines, so I wouldn't expect the users would have to either.
