One of the great features of GBPVR is that it records programs whenever they are broadcast. However, the downside of this is that when timeslots change (as seems common with public broadcasters) conflicts can occur that didn't exist when the program was first scheduled. The problem is that I can find no way to have GBPVR notify me when a conflict arises.

What would solve this is for GBPVR to send an email (via SMTP) when a change in scheduling creates a conflict. Conflict details would be nice, but aren't essential -- it's enough to know that a new conflict exists. Even having GBPVR run a BAT file for new conflicts would work.

Any chance of this making it into the next release?

Thanks again!

Excellent idea, although it adds a layer of complication for sub.
Another possibility would be a conspicuous change in menu colour or something, maybe a red tray icon?

I know I forget to check for conflicts generated by seaon recordings popping up.

The video archive panel can be configured to show conflicts as well as upcoming recordings.

Yes it does and it does a fine job but, there are times i don't get to even turn on the TV for the week so i never see the menu. I really like that email idea. Count me in as requesting it for a wishlist item.

Did you guys see the latest version of the ewa provides rss feeds to show conflicts, and a number of other things.
That would sort of do what you want as a workaround.

Thanks for the pointer to this. I hadn't used EWA before, but it looks like it might be useful.

Using the new RSS feed feature is a workaround, but I don't use RSS for anything else so to check for GBPVR conflicts I have to remember to run/open an RSS app and check the GBPVR feed(s). This is easier than running GBPVR, but it isn't nearly as good for notification as an email (which I check frequently).

Not sure what platform you are on, but IE7.0 can add feeds.
The only pain is you have to update the rss feed info on the PVR machine in order to get current info. I'm not sure where I am going to put the update so it automatically updates the feed often enough to make sense. Certainly could happened after a recording took place, but that would miss schedule changes.
Anyone thought about this?

you could create a .bat file that runs that update function and then just use windows scheduling to run it every hour, 2hrs, 6hrs etcetera. That is a simple solution.

The latest EWA provides for dynamic rss feeds. But if you use the provided rss feed generation utility, there is probably no need to schedule it to run. You can add the program to run in your PostProcessing.bat file after every new recording and in your PostEPGUpdate.bat file after every EPG update. Running after each EPG update should catch those conflicts. This may not be a solution for those who get EPG data through their video feed; scheduling would then be needed.

Finally, if I understood this correctly, the latest rss feed generation utility only produces files when there is data in those files. You may be able to test for and e-mail a link to the conflicts.xml file. Not sure if it deletes existing files though, so you may need to create a batch file to delete existing files prior to calling the utility.

Edit: Reading the rss thread, it looks like I am wrong. An empty file is generated.

From what I understand I have to use the supplied rss feed generator to generate the xml files. Is there a different way to get the data generated?
Seems like your idea of using postprocessing and postepg could handle the whole issue. As a workaround to the empty file issue, the batch file could test for and empty file and create whatever you need if mt.
