Have you tried a complete reinstall/reload of Windows?

I do know that having an excess of codecs installed on your system can sometimes cause problems....

I thought about reinstalling windows but i can't find my original cd to install windows xp pro so that's another issue that I'm having. I guess i'm going to be forced to install the older machine back and just put everything back like it was at the beginning. The only reason why i switched the machine was because it's a 1ghz celeron processor, the new one is a 3.0 P4. I really need to figure this out i've been at this for almost a week.
