Rudimentary db3 record editor (add/edit/remove items)

Not sure if there's another tool such as this or not, but I created this after some searching for a similar tool:
1. I needed to add programs into the db3 file that were missing due to botched upgrades.
2. I needed to be able to rename them so that I could follow an season + episode + sub_title convention.
3. I needed a fair source for this info, and hitched on to epguides.com for the data (especially since the program info in preformatted and easier to parse).
4. I sometimes download episodes of programs that the tv recording missed and wish to add them into the database.

I thought it maybe of interest to people with similar needs.

i've been wondering if anyone ever going to make something like this for a while... i've toyed with editing the recordings dump xml and then importing it again, but this requires me to find the information about the episode myself.

because i only have one capture card, i can only record one show and watch one show, however there are nights i would like to record two shows and watch one (Mondays, to be exact). when this happens i usually just download the show i couldn't record. currently i have these files in the video library, but have always wondered if i could get them into the "recordings" section seamlessly (so you'd just get a complete list of all "recordings" i have, whether i recorded them or someone else did).

I've used it in the past several weeks with good results. No sqlite screwups so far. The only thing I wish is that EPguides.com supported more tv shows and more "consistently". For instance they called "The Tick" cartoon version "Tick_1994" (one of the shows I record ) and I had to put in a special clause just for the tick.

i think it'd be a bit easier to just backup, and edit the recordings dump file to make an entry for any new recordings (while still using imdb or some other online source for the episode information). after some routine adds entries for each new episode just import it back into gbpvr to add the new items.

i've been doing this by hand, but unfortunately i don't think i could create a program to do it automatically.

You should grab a copy of SQLiteSpy.. its a wonderful program and is nice and small, doesnt even need an installation.. check it out:

Another utility that's useful in this area is Mpeg Import (on the wiki here). It has saved me a lot of work several times. Especially handy if you need to merge two recordings directories into one, or to add shows you "acquired" elsewhere.

wont that only add mpegs? i transcode everything to avi, and sometimes have other avi's i'd like to import.

I guess if it imported avi recordings it'd be called Avi Import instead. :p

Mpeg Import does one thing and does it well. It's not a generalized import tool (although it does offer some command line options to customize its behaviour). For avi files, I'm happy using Video Library.
